Any luck with this formula?

I have a level 8 I'm screwing around with. Trained strength to 24, then decided to change gears and train speed instead.

Agility is capped and I have enough SP to 2nd cap it. Debating on sitting on those SP until I can cap speed first, though.

Any thoughts/hope for this type of approach?

Interesting but I wouldnt neglect STr too much or you will be eating alot of pancakes or get pushed 50 yards off the play.

I'm testing it with a level 12, but I also have my strength soft capped

Strength: 48.37 Blocking: 12.2
Speed: 20.87 Tackling: 22.37
Agility: 67.37 Throwing: 8
Jumping: 8 Catching: 8
Stamina: 23.55 Carrying: 9
Vision: 12.2 Kicking: 8
Confidence: 12.2 Punting: 8

all equip is Stamina and CE is agility

Don't think so, because its hard to get around a blocker as a DT without str, there just aren't many holes to hit that open up.

Well, I think you can do it and be successful but you will still need to near softcap strength to avoid get pancaked too often.

I guess you have to remember that the DT is going to be involved in the running game as well, unlike the RDE (most of the time anyways). I think STR is in order even if you do want to go Spd/Agi, unless you want to be a liability in one phase of the game.

My level 15 DT is a speed/agility experiment. Depending on how this new training thing works, he should be ready to roll some time in the middle of next season, so we'll see how it works then.

DEs can go around their blockers without ever engaging. DTs have to shove their blockers either backwards or to the side, either way, though, they have to engage the blocker to get by him.

It depends on the rest of the line. I think if you have a strong NT and stronger DEs, you may be able to have a DT who sneaks through gaps while the line is holding off the other three.

After four seasons of no real success being a mostly strength/some agility DT, I'm slowly going to turn my guy into a mostly speed/agility/some strength DT. We'll see how it goes next season.

I retired mine at the end of season 3. I think I had 50 STR, 50 SPD, 65 AGIL and 7 in Shed Block. He would get some sacks against bad teams, but was worthless against good teams.

The other thing is that a low STR DT tires more quickly. I know my balanced DTs will sometimes finish games in the 70's for energy, and my power DT seems to always finish in the mid 80's...they both have similar STAM.

Your going to get blown up on run plays, and they'll just run it up the middle. Cant get sacks if they're running the clock out on you.

Aye, as an owner there's no way i'd keep a DT on long term as a starter if I thought he wasn't going to have solid strength as his primary stat, 70 is pretty much a minimum from lvl20 up.

That's exactly what I was told about my DE when low strength DEs were unheard of. Not saying this would work nearly as well, but innovation and taking chances are important in this game.

I've actually seen a few that seemed to work. But they were like 85 agility, 48 strength, 48 speed.
