Has anyone had success as a speed rush DE playing OLB in a 3-4 defense? Is it even a good idea?

The team my guy is on has a couple speed rushing DE's playing OLB and I think the team as a whole has like 1 sack and only a handful of hurries from the OLB positions for the whole season.

In most replays I watch the linebackers are covering people downfield and rarely rushing the QB, at least not as often as I expected.

If he wants the OLBs to rush the passer he needs to set up the AI to do so. Otherwise Playing the DE at OLB is useless.

I've tried this without much success.

I've tried it and had reasonable success. The problem is the godliness of the O-line picking up the blitz this season. We get a lot of hurries, but rarely does the ROLB get in there without the RG coming from across the screen to block him or something.

Our DE/OLB is also a considerably lower level than the competition we go against, so I expect in the next few levels, he'll be significantly better.
