Hey guys,

I'm still not looking to really start working SAs for a few more levels, but I'm wondering where to focus when I do.

I'll have Catch/Speed/Agility softcapped and Jump/Vision mid 30s to 40. I was thinking of focusing points in Jump Catch and Diving catch, giving me even higher chance to grab all the balls I can. I'm having hard time deciding because all 5 seem useful, but I don't want to spread points around, I want to crank just 1 or 2 of them up.

Route Run and Sticky Hands. Save the others for when you get to a really high level and just need a place to spend a couple points.

Also I'd say go for some First Step and Quick Cut in the Speed SA Tree.

I wouldn't even go farther than jump catch, ever. The first 2 are very useful and jump-catch can be effective with a high jumping stat, but the last 2 are next to worthless.

How do you know? Do you know anyone who's put lot's of points in them?

I don't know, I can only guess. The same way we guess with every single stat and SA.

True.
It's just that I'm gonna boost after my next game for the playoffs and I was thinking about putting points in the last 3 possession SA's. But you've kinda put me off that now.

Well, if you want to experiment with them, feel free. They just seem like the kind of skills that occur only every once in a long while. Personally, I'd rather place points into the first 2 possession and first 3 speedster. Probably invest in jump catch as well when I get my jumping up.

For what it's worth, I rank the SA's as such

First Step
Route Run
Quick Cut
Sticky Hands
Head Fake
Jump Catch

Well my WR has 49 catching but 9 drops this season, so I was thinking that perhaps they could've been off target passes so the last 3 SA's would help me catch them.
Anyway I think I'm just gonna get his vision and jumping up and try putting points in sticky hands.

It's been posted multiple times, don't know if it's true or not but it seems to make a lot of sense. Catching does increase the chance of catching balls, but it also increases the range you can reach. Think of your player as having a ring around him of balls he can reach. The higher your catching gets, the bigger that ring gets. It means you will drop more balls, but also be able to catch off target passes you never would have gotten near at a lower lvl of catching. Bort has also said catching greatly improves the chance of catching a ball in stride, too lazy to find the quote.

yea honestly it doesnt matter if its right or not, because the effect it describes is absolutely true. just accept that increasing catching alone increases catches but doesnt decrease drops.

Yeah I read that post by Bort somwhere as well.

But I don't want to accept it, I know it's unlikely but I want to find a way to make sure that every ball I touch is a catch.

then keep your jumping and vision close to where your catching is. that seems to be the most effective though who knows why. 30:30:30 guys seem to have more success than 50:30:30 guys but i mean, sample size i guess.
