FB is there for the hard yards IMO, and a waist just to block/block. lots of teams seem to not use the FB to there fullest.

:-)
what you guys think??

It's possible to have an above average rusher and above average blocker at the same time. The key is to focus on the attributes both roles share: strength, agility and to a lesser extent, speed and vision. Blocking/Carrying are great for specializing your FB into a monster, but neither gives any benefit to the other role.

My FB had 51 yards/game at 5.8 YPC and 38 pancakes (#2 on team behind the LG). Our starting power HB had 5.4 YPC despite being about 3 levels under the league average.

On a team with power backs, there's not a great need to have the FB rush much. But if the HBs are elusive, then it really is very nice to be able to have a FB on those 3rd and short or goal line situations. The same thing applies when you have both an elusive and a power back, as you can't specify which one is in on which play, whereas you can specify FB when you want a power runner. The fact remains though, that a good runner will be an even better runner with a FB in front of him lead blocking.

I molded my FB to be a Blocking FB from day one and he has been on point. 3 seasons in now and he's showing that he can get that short yardage for the first down. Build blocking, rushing will come on its own.

If you want to rush, build a HB.
