A week of upsets!!!! Baltimore thrashes Frostburg! Jax Beach defuses the Armageddon! Red Bank spikes the Lycans! And the Lincoln Freedom Warriors end the Purple Penguins 23 game regular season win streak!!! A bad week for the Penguins and your Peerless Prognosticator, but a good week for the league!!! Here’s the damage….

Cleveland at Richmond Prediction: CLV 23-10 Actual: CLV 59-17

Houston at Jax Beach Prediction: HOU 24-21 Actual: JAX 10-3

Lincoln at Atlanta Prediction: ATL 23-20 Actual: LIN 28-26
This may be the last week of the PPPP. Work is getting more demanding now, and I don’t know the Western teams that well anyway. It’s been a great season, and it’s been fun to see some of our colleagues building their teams---teams like River City and Cleveland that are going to be forces to reckon with next year, rising above the wreckage of the numerous gutted teams that littered the BBB#7 landscape. We even had Richmond winning their first game in forever, although their owner couldn’t sustain the process and had to sell the team ….
Well, onward and upward. Last week is over and the future beckons! But not before I extend a hearty congratulations to the Lincoln Freedom Warriors! Quite a tussle with bounces of the ball for both sides. You came out on top fair and square and we salute you and the terrific effort your team put forth….but you’ll have to forgive us for chomping at the bit at the prospect of a rematch!!!!
Hey, isn’t that supposed to be what a rivalry’s all about???
(8) Louisville Baby Kittens (11-3) at Baltimore Hustle(2-12)-----Baltimore comes off a very nice win against Frostburg where the Hustle were outleveled significantly. They’ll be outleveled in this game too, but the result is not likely to be the same. The Kittens are too polished an offensive machine to let that happen……….LOUISVILLE-73 BALTIMORE-10
(7) Richmond Empire (2-12) at Red Bank Thundercats (12-2)-----Now that Richmond is yet again under new ownership, the Thundercats have what amounts to a scrimmage this week. No one could expect the Empire to be ready to play last year’s conference runner-up evenly after just a single week of ownership. This is especially true on the heels of the Thundercats victory last week over Appalachian. Sorry, Richmond, it’s time to regroup and get ready for next year...……..RED BANK-56 RICHMOND-0
(6) Jax Beach Juggernauts (7-7) at The State of Texas Domination (1-13)-----Jax Beach seems to be awakening to the urgency of their situation just in time. Coming off a huge upset of Houston, they get a breather before their season finale next week against 3-11 Visalia. They have every chance to win both these games, but because they lost to Saginaw heat-to-head, need DLF Gods or the new ownership of the previous Sin City Showboats to beat the Spirit. That means it likely will come down to the final week, with the DLF Gods/Saginaw Spirit game being a showdown for playoff eligibility. The Juggernauts are getting ready to take care of business against Visalia and watch the Saginaw epic unfold. Frankly, I think it’s better to have these playoff races run down to the wire than to have everything set 3 weeks in advance!..….…..JAX BEACH-44 TEXAS-6
(5) Frostburg Bobcats (2-12) at Cleveland Buckeyes (3-11)-----The Buckeyes showed their mettle last week, vanquishing Richmond in convincing fashion and sending notice that they are serious about being contenders next year. Frostburg is a step behind them in their rebuilding program, so the Buckeyes should win this game handily unless----wait a second let me check---ok, the Bobcats do NOT play in the SEC so the Buckeyes have a chance! (Hey, I had to get at least ONE in before the end of the season!)...………CLEVELAND-38 FROSTBURG-10
(4) Deimon Devil Bats/Sin City Showboats (4-10) at Saginaw Spirit (7-7)-----Saginaw has to be acutely aware that Jax Beach is nipping at their heels, just waiting for the Spirit to take a misstep. The good news is that, just as with Richmond, it’s not reasonable to expect new ownership to be able to put a competitive team on the field after just one week. This works to Saginaw’s advantage, but they’d better not take ANYTHING for granted. The margin for error is ZERO!…...…..SAGINAW-42 DEIMON-0 (Spirits and Deimons and football, oh my!)
(3) The River City Ransom (6-8) at Lincoln Freedom Warriors (12-2)-----Fresh off the biggest upset of the week, will the Warriors be able to keep their game face on? River City is virtually eliminated from the playoffs, but would like nothing more than to show that they too are capable of pulling off a big time win. This is their opportunity, but I don’t think it’s meant to be. Maybe next year, River City. Keep improving the way you have over the past season, and you’ll be right in the thick of it next year!!!...……..LINCOLN-34 RIVER CITY-13
(2) Atlanta Purple Penguins (13-1) at Syracuse Samurai (9-5)-----Locked in a tie with Houston, Syracuse runs up against the Purple Penguins while the Armageddon have to face the Lycans. Neither team gets an easy path to one-up the other. Syracuse is at a disadvantage, however, due to Houston’s head-to-head victory. Both teams face lower tier teams from the Western Conference next week, with Houston again drawing an advantage with an opponent that has not won a game this season. Syracuse needs to come up BIG to move up in the standings, but doing it against the Penguins???? I’m afraid it just doesn’t seem likely.…..….…..ATLANTA-35 SYRACUSE-20
(1) GAME OF THE WEEK: Appalachian Lycans (12-2) at Houston Armageddon (9-5)-----Both these quality teams lost last week, but Houston’s probably stung worse. Each will be looking to return to their typical winning ways, but as explained above, there’s more to it for Houston. There’s more to it for Appalachian as well, as they currently are locked in a three way tie for second place. A second home playoff game is the prize for the team that comes out on top, and right now it’s all up in the air. With both teams with great talent, good coaching, and something to fight for, the intangibles essentially cancel each other out and we’re left with the fact that Appalachian seems to have talent that’s a bit better than the Armageddon. Therefore, the purple prediction is ..……..APPALACHIAN-38 HOUSTON-21
Whew! Well, there you have it----what may be the last PPPP of the season. Hope you enjoyed it, but I also hope that I won’t be doing these again next season! It’s been a blast, boys!!!!
