My safety teammate has 50+ strength, 30+ tackling and 5 in wrap up and diving tackling SAs and he still has 11 missed tackles on the year...

I call bull shit... I have 19ish strength, 21ish tackling and I have 4 missed tackles on the season.

We did trade for him mid-season however and he came from a higher level league.

Yes, strength has less to do with tackling this year while Tackling has more. It also had to do with the fact that power running backs are more powerful this season. Strength allows you to break through the blockers faster and cause more fumbles.

also i noticed my tackling bar higher than people who have more tackling, and more strength... i think vision and agility might be involved more

its gotta... thats like saying does pancake help you knock a guy over? i dont mean to be rude or anything but theres no point in a hard hit if you dont get the guy to fumble it.

Perhaps more tackling allows you to attempt more tackles. For example, that guy that would have blown by you, now you stick out an arm and he breaks the tackle, but you slow him down enough that a teammate gets him?

I think tackling works a lot like catching and blocking in that they are "area of effect" skills. Yes, they improve the core skill but they also improve the range at which you attempt that skill. Leading in some cases to more fails because you make more attempts.

I'm not sure i agree because vision and jumping should cover this

i don't think so. its pretty simple in my mind. VISION to see where you need to be, SPEED to get there, AGILITY to keep the guy infront of you, STRENGTH to get away from a block, TACKLE to wrap up the ball carrier. JUMPING helps you when you have to DIVE after the guy and i'm sure that strength helps when you need to hold onto a guy thats trying to run you over.

basicaly if your tackling only allowed you the chance to make the play we would all be screwed and miss tackles constantly.
