Forum > Goal Line Blitz > Tactics Discussion > When Will Bort Fix the Defensive Tactics Against the I-Formation????

As a defensive coordinator for 3 teams I have become EXTREMELY frustrated as we cannot choose the straight I-Formation in our advanced tactics. We can currently choose from Any I, Strong I, Weak I, and Big I (which I have yet to see come up on a replay). This is all fine and good, but the straight I Formation is the most commonly used formation in the game, and we can't set our defense against it specifically!!! This needs to be added ASAP as I'm not about to input a generic defense against the "Any I Formation" option.

Bort???

easy create any I formation, then create weak I , then create strong I. Keep weak I and strong I ahead of any I formation and the defense will run the any I formation for the straight I, because the weak I will run against weak formations, and strong I will run against strong I formations. You just need to make sure the weak and strong are ahead of the any I formation. Problem solved, next...

Yeah, that's the work-around, but there's no reason it hasn't been fixed. Just get rid of Big-I which doesn't exist, and change it to check for standard I.

true, but if there is a work around i would rather have other things than fix something we can fix ourselves.

there is an old saying: you can hold out both hands, wish in one and crap in the other and see which one gets filled first.

Stop complaining - this is a VERY easy workaround.

I see the Big I play all the time and my defense shifts the LB's to the strongside and my CB's go to close coverage in a Cover 2 defense. I took out the "Any I Formation" option during the preseason as I found it useless to me.

Here is an example of the Big I:

That's not the Big I. The input formation should really be renamed to "Deep I."

This is the offensive formation that GLB calls the Big I and it does bring on my defensive input called "Big I" when this formation is called by the offense. I can find quite a few examples of it throughout the season. As for "Deep I", where did you come up with that one?

Big I has two TEs, one on each side of the OL, and is in the game, but rarely used. The very few times I've seen it used, it was always a pass play to TE2 - of course, that might just be the only time I notice it.

Exactly.

"Big" means the formation has 2 tight ends. The formation in your replay isn't the big I - it's the standard I with the tailback lining up a few yards deeper than normal. If GLB calls this the Big I, then that is a bug or a mistake.

Do you have any examples? I've seen Single Back Big with two TE's but don't recall seeing one with 2 TE's, HB, FB and WR. That would actually make some sense calling a formation with those players "Big I". But what I've learned is that in GLB everything doesn't necessarily make sense or mimic real football. So we have to go with what's happening and make adjustments to counter what the other team is doing.

Yeah, or you could strive to make sure what you have works before adding new stuff with more bugs. If you keep adding content and don't fix what's already in place, then what's the point.

It's great that there's a work-around and that some people know about it, however I'm willing to bet there's a bunch of teams out there using the wrong formations because they don't line up with what they should be.

It shouldn't even be called a work-around or a bug - it's common sense.

big i exists. The offense has to run a short pass to TE in their settings but I have seen it.
