Just a general question about man coverage styles. Anyone notice any real differences in the styles?
i.e... If the WR runs a curl, has anyone noticed a difference between being in close coverage as opposed to medium?
Or, if the WR runs deep?

Medium seems to give up just too many passes underneath to be worth using unless your CBs are excessivly overmatched. Long is worthless. Play close coverage and hope your CBs can hold up.

I've tried close and medium. Neither seems to be all that different than the other as far as end results go. I'm just looking for some consistency. Pass coverage in general seems a little borked right now.
Maybe it's just me, though.

I found close, aggressive works well in both this and last season.

Close Distance, Medium or Aggressive tactics, depending on how I feel.

Maybe Medium/Aggressive if I want to try and pad stats.

Last season, I played mostly medium and got a lot of PD's, but a lot of tackles too. No picks, expect for the few games I played close, but then I didn't get any tackles or passes defensed.

This season, I was inactive for a little while and had set my CB as medium/medium. He just got tackles, not pd's or picks, so now that I came back, I switched to close and agressive.

FWIW - Bort has said that playing aggressive, while it increases your INT chances it does reduce your PD chances. Presumably since you are trying to catch it and not just knock it down.

Here is the whole update note, with reference in the middle:

I think the main problem in perception is that people are seeing the WR still not getting open as often as I'd like, and passes get completed when the dots overlap. This is generally just the WR winning the swat vs catch check. The odds are actually 50/50 if the two guys are even in comparison of those two skill formulas. It's possible the penalty for being covered isn't high enough, or that the fake out delay needs to have a longer delay chance to allow for a little more separation in general.

Also, most of the CB's are playing "aggressive" style in which they will go for the interception every time. This gives them less chance to bat the ball down if they don't make their INT check.

I'm pretty much planning on keeping the sim as is for a while though, unless I find some bugs to fix, since everybody's been complaining about the "moving target" syndrome.
