End of season is coming close fast, so it's time to spare a few thoughts on this again. It seems lasts seasons process was a bit too complicated or time consuming for some, although in principle I liked it how things went. For that reason I'd suggest a slightly modified approach this time. These suggestions are taking into account my own experiences with the process last season as well as some of the comments and wishes that came up last time around.
For simplification of the process:
- We keep it to three players per position, regardless of how many of them are on the field, these players are ranked 1-2-3
- 5, 3 and 1 points are assigned to a player based on his respective rank
- Ranking is based on number of points, number of first place votes is used as a tie breaker
- DT/NT; LDE/RDE; LOT/ROT; LG/RG are all considered to be one position each. Not quite certain whether to treat MLB/OLB the same or split them up, what does everyone think?
To get more people involved in the voting:
- Up to three ballots per team can be submitted, owner and GM ballots take precedence over player ballots, otherwise timestamp of the according PM decides which ballot counts and which doesn't withing a certain group
- Players from your own team can be nominated, but only if you have two players from other teams listed for that position as well, otherwise that nomination will be ignored
Miscellaneous:
- The ballot counter withholds the rights to ignore any ballots that are obviously not meant to be taken serious (I envision a certain person to submit one with their own single player listed in every single position, isn't that right T-Noles?
)
Timeframe:
- Voting starts with the end of the regular season and ends the day of the Conference Championship games
And yes, this season we should put owners and GMs and an MVP vote back on the ballot, I totally forgot to do that last season.
So, anyone got any comments, suggestions, additions?
