So its getting close to playoff time, I know that Prague is already gearing up for Week 15 and the Playoffs. But whats left on the schedule for this week?
Alpha
Barger Hill at Kazan
To be honest there arent a lot of good games this week in EE Pro, this is certainly one of the better ones. Barger Hill is 12-0 but has had a few scrapes at home against the 7 and 8 teams in Alpha (that doesnt bode well for the playoffs). Kazan gets 4 playoff teams to end their schedule and honestly I have to ask "who have they beat?" Well they beat the 8th and 9th teams in Alpha and not by much .. but thats really it and now they have to play 1,6 and 7, two of which could leapfrog them with wins. This is a brutal stretch for Kazan and they have to hold on or they could drop to a lower seed in Alpha and face a potential 1st round playoff game with Barger Hill or Dubrovnik, neither of which any team wants. I believe that Barger Hill will win this game, as I said at the start of the season, their team has too much quality depth and high levels not to be competitive, their losses last season came from good pass defenses, this season pass defenses got hit with the nerf stick and Barger Hill is flourishing.
Dubrovnik at Hungarian
200-0, the game is no story.
What is a story? Dubrovnik has this last easy game, then move into a stretch against 3 playoff or close caliber teams. Their schedule actually gets harder as it goes on, they have Alpha#9 Sarajevo, then Alpha#3 GCP and then LRC which would be one of the top 3 in Alpha. The week 15 game between Dubrovnik and GCP is huge, but Dubrovnik gets a MUCH harder Week 16 game, which means that they MUST win the Week 15 game to ensure that even if they lose to LRC, they are ahead of GCP and secure #2.
Couch Potatoes at Red Army Regulars
Maybe the most exciting game in EE Pro this week, though as a Zeta guy Im also really interested in Cincinnati at Greek. This game is Alpha#3 at Alpha#4 but coming off a humiliating defeat at Alpha#9 Sarajevo last week, there are a lot of questions in the RAR camp. No there wasnt public bickering like Fanatix players, but one must wonder how a team battling for a top spot just gets shut down by a team that will have to get lucky to get into the playoffs. The RAR play GCP, then Vilinus (who still hasnt boosted), Washington and Helsinki .. Id say that if their game is on they could win all of those games, but GCP starts things out and they will probably be the hardest team .. no disrespect to Helsinki .. who right now is a very talented team without a rudder. I figure that the RAR will beat Washington ... but the others are really dicey, though 10 wins might put them in a tie with NFL. GCP should win 12 games by my estimation, if they win 14, they will certainly be the #2 team in Alpha. Again their playoff placement really hinges on Week 15 at Dubrovnik. As for the game, I believe that GCP should win this one, they are a consistent team who pretty much does what you expect them to do (minus the loss to NFL), I favor consistency over the up and down of a team like the RAR.
Demon Brigade at East Alabama
This isnt a game, no it isnt 200-0, its maybe 50-7, but still .. Demon Brigade is an established team with good talent and East Alabama is well .. a ferry and most of the passengers get off Day 40. So whats the story here? The story is that the Demon Brigade has a soft schedule, but where is the team that blew out NFL Week 3? While the Demon Brigade will end up with at least 11 wins and possibly 12, facing a Kazan team fresh off a likely loss to Barger Hill, the real question to them is .. can they beat an elite team? The answer so far this season is .. hell no! 25 to Barger Hill, 26 to Dubrovnik and 13 to GCP says that they really arent there yet. Its highly likely that the Demon Brigade gets the 4th seed in Alpha, but the question is .. if they beat out #5, do they really have a chance in round 2? That wont be answered until the playoffs, unless they can just stomp a mudhole in Kazan next week, which I dont see happening. Maybe I can be proven wrong?
NFL at Fortmill
This is also not a game, it will be 100-0 at least. So lets look at NFL, who should make the playoffs. They will end the season with at least 10 wins, given the softness of their schedule and the fact they had good luck with their Zeta draw. The only challenging game remaining is at Kazan, which is lucky for them, because Kazan will be coming off two weeks of tough games versus Barger Hill and the Demon Brigade .. both of which could be losses for Kazan and snowball into 3 losses with NFL being a solid team. However, that doesnt say that NFL is really great .. besides 1 upset against GCP and playing Barger Hill closer than anyone this season .. they still havent shown that they can just beat on an opponent. A tight loss to the RAR and tight win against unboosted Vilinus shows that they belong in the 2nd tier of Alpha behind the top 3, very similar to the Demon Brigade. Again similar to the Demon Brigade, the only chance that they have to show that they can really hang with the big boys is if they can stomp a mudhole into Kazan .. which I also dont see happening. For this team consistency is an issue .. the team seems to have knee jerk reactions to what occurs in games and there has been infighting on the team. If they end up at the 5th or 6th seed, can they beat their opponent? Im not sure, they need to beat Kazan, get the 5th seed and hope they get a good game against the Demon Brigade in the 1st round, for the "privilige" of playing Barger Hill.
Vilinus at Washington
As I said a couple of weeks ago, Vilinus must be pretty confident because they are still unboosted and to get into the playoffs they will need 10 wins, as Sarajevo should have 10 wins, considering that there are 6 non-competitive teams in Alpha this season. To get 10 wins Vilinus is going to have to beat the RAR or Scotch .. which I can assure them that the RAR will be an easier target. I believe that they will beat Washington however as the Chairmen just havent been putting up much of a fight this season against good teams and should end up with 7 wins, the 6 non-competitive Alpha teams and 1 gutted Zeta team.
Sarajevo at Minsk
This wont be a game, Minsk isnt even capable of keeping it with any real Alpha teams, which is strange because they have the players to do it. So lets talk about Sarajevo, they have a soft schedule and will have 10 wins, their upset last week of the RAR showed they can still do what they have always done, run the ball and play defense and rack up stats against gutted teams and they will get their chance to do that the next 4 games with the exception of Dubrovnik, who will stomp them down. Their wins and losses this season show that they are in the 2nd tier of Alpha, along with the RAR, NFL, Demon Brigade, Vilinus and Kazan, but they also have yet to show that they can play with the real power teams this season. They have an outside shot of getting a playoff spot, if Vilinus doesnt win 10 games, then Sarajevo is in, simple as that. If Vilinus wins 10 games, Sarajevo is out, unless maybe NFL only wins 10 games, then it would come down to points, which Sarajevo is behind both Vilinus and NFL. We will have to see how this goes down, because mostly it hinges on Vilinus.
NY Knights at Chaos Theory
While holding onto CTs players, his former team has kept things very competitive against teams who underestimate them. In fact CT could win 2 more games this season, but they have the unfortunate luck of having both the first place alpha and zeta teams left on their schedule, which will be teeball for the conference leaders. CT should win this game, as NY is just a bad team, with their levels they should be more competitive than they are .. but they only beat two teams who were gutted this season and those will be their only two wins .. that will be enough to keep them in EE Pro this season unfortunately and will give Alpha another team that plays well below their potential for next year, as has been typical of that conference. The story here is that CTs team is all on Day 40 except for CTs former players ... who all wont be of a competitive level next season and likely this team will go back on the trash heap.
