turn 21 tomorrow.
Should i start aiming towards 60 str (not including equipment)?

Strength: 62.46 Blocking: 55.52
Speed: 20.63 Tackling: 16.78
Agility: 31.13 Throwing: 9
Jumping: 8 Catching: 9
Stamina: 36.2 Carrying: 8
Vision: 30.64 Kicking: 10
Confidence:24.14 Punting: 8

Pas 22223 (have equipment on it)
Run 11112

Strength is at 52.46 without equip

Should i am to be at the 2nd soft cap when I hit lv23?
Mayb 2 str, 1 stamina, 1 agility, 1 vision (training on speed)?

Please let me know if you have a better plan and why?

Thanks

RB

I've a better plan, retire.

My level 15 center will at the 4 cap in strength and 3 cap in blocking. He gains 7SP a level between strength and blocking. You only gain 4 right now.

Every time I level I get 7SP from major abilities and 1SP from minor abilities as well has the 5SP to spend. Thats a total of 13 SP every time I level. You are only getting 10SP each time you level. You will spend the entirety of your career behind people with centers like me.

But if you want to keep him rush to the second soft caps.

Don't shoot me for asking, but when you hit the soft caps the automatically distributed SP's increase?

I guess I'm asking how you get 7 SPs from major abilities on a level up.

When you hit a soft cap you still get the same gain (for a center 1 point in strength and blocking) but its worth more. At the first soft cap its worth 2 in each, once you get to 68 base (if you rush strength and blocking early thats where I would stop putting points in permanently) its worth 4.

The OP will out perform me at the moment due to balance of his build and his higher level but by the middle of next season he will be way behind in strength and blocking and I will have caught up everywhere else.

Thanks, this is great stuff. I'm way too balanced right now. I also put way too much into SA tree at the beginning - live and learn or RTFM.

what he's saying is that he's at a point where it takes 4 sp to gain 1 point of strength, and 3 sp to gain 1 point of block. so when he levels up and naturally gains 1 point of blocking and strength, he's getting a return that would normally cost him 7 sp to obtain.

rbfloyd has a well rounded build, but will never be able to attain the blocking or strength ratings of naraic's center.

i do favor naraic's approach. have put all my sp in strength and blocking with a level 11 OT. it does give you a lopsided build initially. you've got to be patient with it and find a team who understands what you're doing.

theres no manual so you are excused Softcapping and the benifits to natural growth derived from softcapping was only just known when you were starting.

For example my center has 188SP between strength and blocking. the OP has 114 between the two. In fact if you ad up entire builds (without equip) the OP has 337SP (assuming no attributes from custom, while my center (5 levels lower) has 371SP in the build.

Not only will he be unable to match my strength and blocking when he tries he will have to spend a lot more SP to do try and catch up during which time I will blow past him in terms of attributes

Agreed I've a team where everyone on the O-line is building like this. Its important to have a team that agrees

Aim for the 3 cap in both str and blk. Minimum.

The ones that do that quickest will reap the biggest rewards in the future, as the second post (naraic) in this thread points out.

Can someone link a chart to the future "rewards?" Is their a progression chart that measures how much extra ability you will have in subsequent levels compared to someone who didn't soft cap an ability immediately?

no I don't think there is a chart around but theres a brilliant example in this thread. The OPs center without equipment is 337SP total in his build (I didn't count decimals so probably plus a few), my own center without equipment (level 15) has 371SP in the build

yeah, i am in a playoff run, but i think i'll just freakin retire my guy.
way to toot your own horn and be a dick about it.

the question was not how to build the best one from scratch, but what to do from here.

If you want to continue investing in the player strength and blocking hit caps asap. In the long term you will be a sub par center so be aware that you will be putting good FP after bad if you continue to boost for the rest of your career

just an fyi, when you hit level 22, you get 1.5 for your majors instead of 22.
And it goes down further at some point.

is this true, or speculation? I've never seen anyone say this before. Do you have any supporting documents?
