Forum > Position Talk > Safety Club > So I want to build a FF machine...

I recently created a FS and would really like to make him be able to create forced fumbles seemingly at will. Now any ideas on what order I should train/soft cap attributes? I plan on slow building him. I think im going to soft cap speed first after I get stamina up to 20. Then what?

Thanks, any help is greatly appreciated.

You will have to build it like a linebacker. High strength, tackling and agility. You will suffer in speed and vision.

If I were you, I would reroll and make an SS. FS's are suppose to be more of a coverage defensive back.

This year has been lucky for me. My SS has 5 FF's .

i know SS are more for that and FS are more for coverage. Im going to break the traditional barrier and see how it works out lol. Thanks for the advice. =)

The issue still remains, the FS plays on the weak side of the ball. You wont see as many run plays. Now if you want to blast wide receivers, you may be on to something.

yeah i agree mogs.... your FS will only be beating up the little WRs IF he doesn't get burned by them beforehand =/

Near impossible to get burned if they do Cover 1/2 shell 90% of the time. I had 25 PD's last season, but this season I have been dabbling in a lot of cover 1/2 and only have 5 PD.

well i have a question, do WR's put a lot into carrying? I mean I know HB's do. Carrying would help them hold onto the ball after getting blasted, right? And if they didn't have a lot then they would most likely drop it say if i had 7 points in big hit and 50 SP's in strength and tackling?

Idk would at least demoralize them somewhat anyways.

The speed at which you hit a ball carrier seems to be a huge factor in causing fumbles also.

if you're set on making a FS a FF machine than go ahead but SS is better since he has the big hit and also the monster hit SA's which increase your chance to FF a lot more. plus as a FS you don't see much action unless like my FS you have ridiculous vision and high speed he's in on almost every play.

as a FS pump the big hit SA since its intended to FF. don't neglect speed and agility since its no sense being able to FF if you can't catch up to the ballcarrier. strength is key in FF the higher the strength you have the harder you can hit the guy. do cover 0 so you're helping cover a WR and are closer to the line to go in for run plays.

you need speed, agility, vision, strength, and tackling at a decent level around 25. also the morale reducing SA's like growling tackle and snarl could help by reducing their morale.

personnally you have a better shot as a SS to force fumbles... but the FS could still work but it just doesn't seem natural.

Well FS gets closing speed in the hard hitting tree. Adds more momentum and you can close in on plays further away.

No matter what kind of FS you make, make sure you get speed/agility/vision to the soft caps first. Then you can start working for the hard hitting aspect. I started off wanting to be a hard hitting safety, and made the mistake of using my starting points on SA's. Well I fixed him up and sured up his coverage abilities. Now in his third season I am finally able to start working on making him a harder hitter.

Step 1 in any Free Safety: Make sure you aren't a liability. You're the last line of defense, act accordingly.

Step 2 figure out what you want to be leaned towards. (Hard Hitting tendency, Balanced, or Pure Coverage)

Step 3 start working towards that and add towards it cautiously to make sure you don't start giving up big plays in the pursuit of rare highlight reel play.
