Right now I have ~ 30 agility. Should it shoot for softcapping it? I'm already at the 3:1 softcaps for strength and blocking

ok people always say to soft cap agility because they have to contain speed rushing DEs with higher agility. Well, my OT has 34 agility and I think I have given up 4 sacks in 3 seasons and I am focused as a Run Blocker. I dont see the point in putting that much cause it isn't like the OT has to go after the DE. I would just try it at about 30-35 for now and if you are giving up quite a bit of sacks, then increase it.

Personally I'd rather put points in SAs than agility in your position. Clearly, those are the only 2 spots you'll want to put points on for quite some time.

As far as 30 being good enough, that depends on your level which I didn't look at. I'd say 30 for a level 20, 40 for a level 30.

It's sufficient for RT.

I'd recommend more for LT, if you desire to play that position in the future.

LOT's need at least capped Agility. ROT's don't unless you play against a pass rushing LDE (Like my DE is ), although not many are around, obviously.

You may be able to get away with it that low at LT, but if you have good speed rushers in the conference, they'll make their season on you.

I had one guy get six sacks on me in the first game of the season, even though my blocking and strength were high, with vision and agility in the low 30's. It's like I didn't exist. He just looped around me, and I never got a chance to engage. Then I'd move on and hit a DT or LB while my QB ate turf.

Since I've gotten my speed and agility up, I'm able to shift with those looping agility rushes and keep between the DE and the QB.

Many DE's these days are rolling out with 65 AGI and 65 SPD. You tell me how much you think you need to stay in front of them?

Can't you compensate by cranking up strength and loading shock block? It should be ultra effective if RDE's are ignoring strength and focusing on agility and speed.

Mob, I don't think that will work. You'd have to get a helmet on the DE first.

This is before I had agility softcapped and worked on training up speed (which I'm still doing):

This is after:

With better speed, I'll be able to maintain that pocket cushion position. Too Tall didn't get a sack that day.

It's a tough battle. Ideally, you'd like to be able to KO a speed rusher, but you have to catch them first. Strength is useless if they blow past you. So, you have to bring up your speed and agility enough to at least get at them. Then you can pancake the DE.

my OT has played both roles with 41,never gave away too many sacksbefore i went ROT so, it really depends on your league

Rekcuf, where is your strength at compared to other abilities, is it your 1st highest, 2nd highest, etc. How many points do you have in Shock Block?

Atom, the DE and OT line up an arm's reach from each other, how much speed and agility does a DE need to run around a linemen without getting touched? I would imagine a lot to the point where an OT could keep up with minimal investment in those areas of points. If he can get a hand on the DE, shock block should work.

Anyone with high strength and loaded shock block care to comment on their experience?

Hope this doesn't come off as confrontational, I'm just asking questions to gather info on this. Thanks.

Has anyone ever tried creating an OT like a RDE, having speed and agility as the main attributes?? Wonder if that will help neutralize those speedy DEs.

Apparently blocking and agility should neutralize the DE, but that just becomes a stalemate of who can get their agility up the highest. Yawn. I think speed is overrated for an OT, they just have to move laterally a foot or two, it is the DE who needs speed to get around the OT to the QB if he can shed the block.

My strength was pushing 70 there, but shock block was only 2. So who knows, maybe it would work with higher shock block and strength.

What you say makes a lot of sense in the real world, but looking at replays before I got my agility up, it doesn't seem to match with the new agility rushing in GLB land. Those DEs really adept at it just ghosted around with an ethereal cushion before my OT even knew he was supposed to hit someone, as if they weren't only a couple feet away.

I think speed is probably tertiary, but it definitely helps in slipping down with the DE and maintaining that pocket cushion. I didn't think it would since the OT has so little distance to travel, but I guess there's a reason Protect boosts speed too.
