Open up to a podium on a stage. Behind the stage is a big San Antonio Wrangler banner with the words "Getcha Some" stamped at the bottom in read. There are reporters galore and flash bulbs going off. A man steps up to the podium.
INTRODUCER: I'd like to introduce the new owner of the San Antonio Wranglers...Mr. Jay Johnson.
The reporters stand and cheer as a middle aged dark haired man with a muscular build walks out. He is wearing a suit and tie with a blue Wranglers hat on. He walks up to the podium.
JAY: Hello... everybody and welcome to the new era is professional football. I would just like to personally throw out a welcome to everyone who is attending or watching at home, and more important I would like to thank the city of San Antonio for giving us the goods to work with. Having said that, the best thing to do is to give you guys some time to ask me some questions and then bring out a few of our stars.
The reporters begin to raise their hand. Jay looks around the crowd and picks a young lady, he points as the attendants hand her a mic.
YOUNG LADY: Hi, I'm Jenny Torres from the Express News and I just had a couple of questions.
JAY: Shoot.
YOUNG LADY: Well, first I'd like to be the first to welcome your team to the San Antonio area.
JAY: Thanks Jenny.
JENNY TORRES: Well let me get down to it. How do you feel about having two franchises in this city and in the same division? Are you worried that San Antonio might not be able to hold both?
JAY: That is a great question Jenny. Its Jenny right?
She shakes her head.
JAY: Well, Jenny...San Antonio is a great city and I believe the people will support it. We are cross town rivals and I think it'll bring a lot of fans to both of our games. And just think about that rivalry game... wow San Antonio is going to blow up. But on a serious note, I believe San Antonio is more than capable of supporting both of us. I think it'll be a great rivalry for years to come.
People begin raising there hand as Jay looks around. He points at an older man. He stands up.
OLDER MAN: Hi, I'm Jacob Lee from the Kens 5 news team. I have been following you for the past few days and I've noticed that you aren't paying the high prices like some of the other teams are paying for their players. Are you worried that this will end up hurting you in the long run?
JAY: That is another good question Mr. Lee. I'll answer it to the best of my ability. Basically, I have been a businessman for many years and I know how to run a successful business. There's nothing against the other teams who are throwing money out like they have... I'm sure they have a good gameplan. I'm not putting all my eggs in one basket so to speak, and I would rather get a bunch of good players that are playing to play the game.. not for the huge amount of money. So far, I've gotten some pretty good stars using this motto. And you are right the bigger named stars are being drawn by suitors who are throwing out money and giving out false promises. But there's a difference in being a BIG named player and a GOOD player. But you are right... we'll see in the future how my approach goes.
Jay looks back out towards the reporters. Another man raises his hand.
MAN: Robert Garcia from the KSAT 12 News team. I just had a quick question over your gameplan for tomorrow night? Well.. haha.. what is it?
JAY: Ha ha, great question. I think it'll be better suited to bring out our coach for that one. I'm pleased to introduce Coach Shane Stevens.
Out steps a slightly balding middle aged man. He is wearing a Wranglers shirt with sweat pants. He shakes hands with Jay who puts the hat on Shane's head. Shane walks up to the podium.
SHANE: Before I answer that question I would just like to extend a thanks everyone involved and to this great city. I hope to bring a championship to this town in the near future. Now onto the question...the gameplan this week is going to be VERY entertaining. I have always been the type of coach that likes to open it up with the passing game and hit the outsides with the running game. Jay has signed some great players that will allow me to do just that. Our defense may not be up to par with our offense just yet but we have seen great things so far. Ed Cota and Arthur Guinness have shown great progress in their early careers and I think they'll become great shutdown corners. Our linebackers are stout with Rivers and Brooks leading that. Donnie Shell and Jakab Zoltan seem to be ready to knock some heads in as well. Tomorrow I look to throw some crazy plays out and use our beast Joe to run behind with Reid. Our receivers are fairly new and will need some adjusting but I'm sure that Thomas will put them in the position to get the ball. Great question.
He points another out of the crowd.
LADY: I am Cindy from News 4.
SHANE: Wow, you've got a lot of news channels in this town.
The audience shares a laugh.
LADY: Well... we've heard some rumors of you guys looking to land some big named receivers, any news on that?
SHANE: I can't really talk about that at this time. I know Jay is hard at work with figuring out all of that. Adam tries hard and I think he'll do just fine for now, but we would love to have some more help at receiver. Are we looking at some, yes... but we are looking at any and all positions right now.
Jay walks up to the podium.
JAY: AT this moment in time we are going to have to cut it. We have a big game tomorrow and we need to get ready for that. Hope to see you guys out there. So as I promised... SAN ANTONIO HERE ARE YOUR WRANGLERS.
The Wranglers begin to pile on stage wearing there jerseys. They all wave and pose for pictures.
