Warrior General Games

Toward the end of last season I kept track of the emerging playoff picture after each game and, with only 5 games left, I figured it's about time to do it again. These projections are not based on what I predict may happen, but rather on what has already occurred and what is still mathematically possible. I am certain that at some point my observations may be incorrect, please point it out if you see it.

ALPHA: After Week 11, no teams have clinched a playoff berth, however it is no surprise that Woodridge is on the verge of becoming the first. The Woo-Jacks can clinch a berth with a win over London, if they don't get shocked trying. Valhalla and Berlin also appear to be in good shape right now, however both teams still have at least 4 games remaining against very strong squads that are all fighting for playoff berths.

Only the Assassins have all been eliminated from playoff contention, but they can still avoid relegation if they can find a way to pick up some wins.

ZETA: There are fewer teams that appear to be in realistic playoff contention, but regardless, no team has locked up a playoff berth here either. While the Trolls are in the lead, four of their remaining games are against competitive squads and anyone can win games like these in this league.

Only SGPO has been eliminated from playoff contention. Dfools is close, but their remaining contest with Rotterdam prevents them from being mathematically eliminated at this time. Both teams are still a few losses away from clinching relegation.

No mention of the Pimps? /Thread-fail

Little has changed in Alpha after today. In Zeta, however, the picture is becoming much clearer, at least in terms of who will not be going to the playoffs.

ALPHA: As expected, Woodridge defeated London and has now clinched a playoff berth. They remain the only team in Alpha that has clinched a spot at this time. However, Valhalla can clinch the next spot with a win over E-city on Wednesday and their remaining game against Woodridge leaves them the opportunity to claim the #1 seed if they can win out.

Lyon and Nice were both eliminated from playoff contention today. While Nice could still finish with up to 6 wins, It is not possible for Stuttgart, E-city, Carthage, and Wembley to all lose out and Nice owns no tiebreakers over them anyway. And while it is likely that Lyon and the Assassins will be relegated, at this point Blackpool and Nice are also still in possible danger of being moved down.

ZETA: Frankfurt and the Trolls have both clinched playoff berths with their wins today. The Pimps and the Scorgasms are in good shape right now, but they still need some more wins to clinch spots. Both teams have a loss to Rotterdam, whose favorable remaining schedule will likely keep pressure on them for at least one or two more games. The Scorgams, however are in a trickier spot with a difficult remaining schedule, including a game against a Rohrheim squad that is desperately hanging on for a possible spot.

With their losses today, Dfools, Valencia, Oxford, and Oslo were all eliminated from playoff contention. Technically all teams are still eligible for relegation, but due to having losses to all the others, Dfools is by far in the worst position. SGPO has no remaining games against teams that are still eligible for relegation so, while they have not yet technically clinched a demotion, they are almost certainly stuck in last place.

Good analysis.

Rotterdam is going to have a tough time making the playoffs, as the teams they are most likely to be competing with for a lower playoff seed (Reykjavik, Stockholm & Rohrheim) all hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over the Roughnecks.

Rohrheim and Reykjavik play in week 15, so that's 1 loss for one of those teams, but Rotterdam really needs to be rooting for two of the above teams to go 1-3 down the stretch (all 3 teams have 3 losable games left on the schedule) while they coast for the last 4 weeks.

Pimps still get to play valencia and sgpo...i think we pretty much clinched

The Rohrheim and Stockholm games were total bullshit.

here is an idea of what can happen this season going into the last week....Now i made this up, and all the picks are my own, and i know they will not be right, but just think if this happens...the CPU is going to have a fit figuring out the tiebreakers...

Scorgasms - Will lose to the Trolls, Stampede, and Vikings. Finish @ 10-6
Musketeers - Will lose to the HEAT and Warriors. Finish @ 10-6
Destroyers - Will lose to the Pimps and Swords. Finsih @ 10-6
Aggies - Will lose to the Trolls and BlitzKreig. Finish @ 10-6
Meatballs - Will lose to the Destroyers, Trolls, and Monarchs. Finish @ 9-7
Stampede - Will lose to the Aggies and Who Dats. Finish @ 8-8
Roughnecks - Will not lose anymore games. Finish @ 10-6

you think the alpha / zeta matchups are gonna be that much 1 sided??? I hope you're wrong and playoff spots don't come down to a series of tie breakers

actually i kinda do...and i hope it is Thats also why i said my picks will not all be right, but they will be close.
