Looking for some help.

Just created a punter yesterday. Gonna train him unsigned for the rest of the season, which will bring him to L3 on day 40. I figure if I then use this season's boosts I can sign with a d-league squad for next season after hitting L6 and get a decent salary. I'd want to stay in d-league the whole year and then join on with a newly released team for the following season. My concern though is that I'll level too fast, and I'll be beyond L13 by the end of next season (assuming that'll still be the cap), since I hear that P's can easily get more than 1000XP in a game where they punt a lot (is that true?).

I'm doing the same strategy for a couple safeties and a LB, but I know the max XP's for those positions and after running the numbers, I think I should be fine there. Can someone please tell me their thoughts on what avg xp per game I should expect though for a punter in d-league? If I want to "make the cap," should I not boost this year? Is a P's playing time too erratic to gauge?

Thanks

Heh, that is EXACTLY my strategy for all my players that I am slowbuilding.

Anyway, at level 12 or 13 (depending on how many days are left in the season), drop your contract with the team and just train the rest of the season. You'll get some extra value for your level, and be one of the top prospects going into the next season's expansion teams and likely start... etc.

Or, just don't boost, you'll get more long term value out of leveling slower anyway, but then you'd likely fall considerably short.

that's why i'm curious about how fast a d-league punter will level, if it's faster than an average player. i'd obviously rather save the boosts (and thus save the dough) if i'm going to have to drop my contract at the end of next season anyway.

It'll depend on a lot of factors. Just the number of punters on the team can change how many kicks you'll get.

All I can say for sure is that I started in the D-Leagues with my starting punter and he was level 8 when he left.I'm sure there's some algorithm for what the gain would be there, but darned if I know what it is.

Agreed here. My punter hit level 8 and will get close to 9 before his contract is up. I signed day 1.

Really, it's out of your control. You end up on a D League team full of slowbuilds and you'll be punting 8 times a game. End up on a team with few slow builders or that has a couple of players who didn't join human teams in the offseason, and you might get 2-3 per game.
