Forum > Position Talk > CB Club > Pass deflections STILL get caught by WRs...?

Hey, everyone... Hopefully you can offer me some assistance. I have been struggling in the secondary in our level-capped league even though our CBs are higher or equal levels to our opponents. In our recent game we had WRs of level 14, 12, 12, and then 9 and lower against our CBs of level 16, 16, 13, and then 8 and below. We had a ton of instances where our CB was in position all over the CB, tallied a deflection, but then the WR still made the grab (example below).

Any input as to what attributes need to be higher to actually allow my players to, you know, tip the ball away from the WRs? Is this a vision issue?

This is dicused in most of the top 10 threads in this forum. I think the attributes to counter this is jumping catching and confidence

Jumping/catching.

Furthermore, consider the fact that there are some pretty common occurrences in your average NFL game involving deflections that still get caught. I'd just chalk this up as part of the game, to an extent.

Also, if you are doing Aggressive all the time, try Medium.

From Bort in a thread I cannot find anymore.

"Playing loose doesn't mean you'll always go for the bat down. Playing loose means you're just trying to keep the guy in front of you and are not going to try and go straight for the ball when it's thrown. Medium is more of the "bat down" setting, while aggressive is the "try to get the INT every time" setting."

Its not that common. Yes it happens in the NFL but not anywhere close to what I'm seeing on here.

Great find. I have them set on aggressive because they are higher level-wise than the WR we are playing against. I figured that aggressive just meant they'd be more aggressive about trying to get their hands on the ball i.e. trying to bat them down even if there's no help over the top. Not "go for the INT and disregard the deflection." I'll swap settings and see how that changes.

Is this going to affect the amount of completion or just the amount of deflected passes?

I doesn't affect the amount of deflected passes; just makes them less likely to be caught because they won't end up near the receiver. Completions should go up in general because of the QB's new ability to pass away from defenders, so tipped passes should be caught less to make up for it (makes more sense anyway).

Of course, it can still happen, but tips should be more likely to be more "away from the play" now.

kentrol, when was this posted by Bort? Is this a recent update?

***Edit***
Nevermind, I just saw it was updated by Bort today. I wonder what this is going to look like come gameday. Lord knows the CBs in this game need all the help they can get.
