The playoffs are starting to take shape. We have half the season in the bag and it is looking more and more like we have three tiers of playoff teams and the lame ducks.

Last weeks games:

HBB- Mighty 44-7
Thunder-Slugs 28-6
PTP-Birmingham 51-0
LBDA-Lancers 140-0
Seminoles-Chicago 38-24
Toxins-Bugs 52-6
Virginia- Minnesota 61-14
Dallas-Crow 41-24

The Elite 4:

Honolulu Beach Boys: Honolulu hung a big one on the Chihuahua's 44-7. This week they play the lower seeded Seminoles.

Timpanagos Thunder: The Thunder got past the Slugs and now should destroy Dallas.

Possum Trot Plague: The Plague destroyed the Bears 51-0 .They are staying pat at #3 and waiting for their opportunity to jump one of the top 2.

Long Beach Dub-Allstars: Rounding out the elite 4 and a team that seems certain to have at least one home playoff game, the Allstars get a cakewalk this week.

The 5-7 seeds:

Eugene Slugs:The Slugs lead the pack at the #5 spot. They lost again to the Thunder but Mighty's loss to HBB was by a higher margin so the Slugs slide ahead of the Chihuahuas.

Mighty Chihuahuas: Mighty got stomped last week, which was unexpected in my opinion. They have a tough game today in Houston and need to be on top of things to ensure they dont slip up against a crafty Toxin team.

Aurora Seminoles: The Seminole finally proved they could beat a respectable team. They hold fast at #7 and at 5-3 could move as high as #5 at any moment due to a three way tie between the #5-#7 teams.

The Battle for the last spot:

Houston Toxins: After a tough start to the season the Toxins currently are in the drivers seat for the last spot. Unfortunately they also have the toughest schedule remaining. They have to play two of the Elite 4 and also drew the undefeated Bearphins for their out of conference game.

Chicago Inferno: Chicago dropped to the Seminoles and are now on the outside looking in. They have the easiest schedule left of the 4-4 teams only having one game remaining against the elite 4.

Virginia George Washingtons: Virginia plays a Crow team that is on its last breathe. Do they have the killer instinct to put them down for good? Or will they slip up and get upset.

Needing a Miracle:

Birmingham Bears: At 3-5 the Bears are dangerously close to falling out of contention. They still have two games against the Elite 4 and if they lose them both, they will need to win out the rest of the season.

Dallas Hitmen: Dallas is 3-5 and looking at the Thunder...not good. But They will then have one Elite 4 matchup remaining and can make a push for the playoffs if they can win out.

Next season looks better:

Montana Crow: The Crow will give the GW's all they can handle but this roster is at least a season away.

The Bottom Feeders:

Palmetto Bugs: 1-7

Minnesota Mountain Lions: 0-8

Lakewood Lancers:0-8

Matchup of the Week:

Mighty-Houston

No Marquee games this week, but this should be a tight game. Houston has been close in most of their losses. Mighty has played well outside of the Elite 4. Can Houston pull the upset and solidify their playoff push or will the Mighty regather their footing and secure their claim for a middle seed?

GG Toxins. That was closer than the numbers show.

It certainly seems so. GG to the Crow, I was more than a little worried about them, but we were able to persevere and come out on top.
