Murder City Devils (4-1) vs. Carson City Cubes (4-1):
In what has shaped up to be the game of the week in the East, Murder City travels to the Cube in a battle between two second place teams. Murder City is coming off a road loss to a surging Panthers team, and now face a surging Cubes squad, winners of their past four. Key to this game is going to be the Cubes ability to contain a strong MCD pass rush, and how these teams close out the second half of the game. MCD has shown to be strong in in the second halves of games, while C^3 has shown to get weaker. This could prove to be decisive.
Close game at the half, MCD pulls away in the second.
27-13
Seattle Reign (4-1) vs. Megatropolis Tigers (3-2):
In our second most intriguing battle of week six we see Seattle visit the Tigers. Seattle wants to rebound after coming back to Earth a bit in the previous week with a solid win over a quality opponent. Megatropolis would like to put a giant stamp on their post season chances by upsetting a vulnerable Seattle team at home. Seattle's going to want to come out strong like they did against Columbus, forcing Megatropolis to go towards a suspect passing game. Megatropolis is going to need to control the clock and put together some strong early drives to stay in this one for the long haul.
But in the end, the Reign will be too much.
31-20
Milwaukee Fire (3-2) vs. Anonymous Assassins (2-3:
Milwaukee is indeed hot, winners of 3 in a row as they visit the Assassins. I don't foresee Milwaukee tweaking much for this game, and will try to continue to go with a winning formula which has seen them take their past three: ball control. The Fire have held onto the ball for 101:45 versus their opponent's 78:45 during their win streak. The Assassins look to break into the playoff picture with a considerable upset here. They'll need to come up with some big turnovers and key 3rd down stops to hang with the Fire.
Fire continues to roll.
34-13
Michigan Panthers (5-0) vs New York Huskies (2-3):
If you had asked the New York Huskies owner, at the ending of last season, what he'd predict his team's record would be through the first 5 games of this season, there's not a chance in hell he'd have said 2-3. On the same hand, I don't think Michigan's owner would have predicted a 5-0 record looking at their opening schedule. Two teams enjoying surprising early season success face off here in week six.
Michigan, however, will dominate.
66-3
Pontiac War Kittens (3-2) vs. Lexington Mob (1-4):
This interesting matchup pits two teams who clearly have to be frustrated with early season scheduling and results. War Kittens, losers of 2 gut-wrenchers in a row, and the Mob facing a murderer's row in the past 5. The Mob will rely on a strong air game, while the Kittens will rely on a stout defense. An interesting battle this game will be between the Mob's Hollywood Knights and the Kittens' CB Justin Lane.
The Kittens offense gets on track, and their defense steps up in a game that will be closer than what their records indicate.
37-31
Columbus Buckeyees (4-1) vs. Las Vegas Wildcats (0-5):
In what might be described as a tune-up match for Columbus before a week 7 showdown, Las Vegas Wildcats management isn't having any of that kind of talk in their locker room. Furiously scrambling to patch together a competitive team this year, the Wildcats aim to put out an impressive showing on their home field.
Columbus steamrolls, but Vegas shows improvement.
52-16
Maryland Iron Maidens (3-2) vs. New Jersey Vikings (0-5):
A ho hum game in which the Maidens are going to have no problems with our lovable losers, Vikings. You'll have to forgive them, they've been looking forward to week 11 of this year all season, and perhaps for the past 3 seasons. Even though this team is winless, they seem to be playing with inspired vigor this season.
Vikings happily lose, as week 11 draws ever closer.
72-6
Albany Death (0-5) vs. Detroit Soldiers (2-3):
Detroit face game 3 of 3 of their Jaywalker's Row portion of their schedule. Look for the results to be not too different than the first two.
Albany continues to embarass themselves.
82-3
By the numbers:
Unbeaten Michigan has gained 1331 second half yards, compared to their opponents 738 while also amassing 95:58 in time of possession compare to opponents 54:02. Talk about rousing locker room speeches and putting the clamps on.
Good luck in week 6 everyone!
