I've got a lvl 12 WR that I'm working on as a possession guy. Like a lot of people, he's been dropping some balls that he ought to catch with ease. I'm trying to figure out what skill can improve my catch percentage.

Strength: 8 Blocking: 9
Speed: 35.63 Tackling: 8
Agility: 37.51 Throwing: 9
Jumping: 22.2 Catching: 34.63
Stamina: 27.52 Carrying: 21.51
Vision: 25.62 Kicking: 8
Confidence: 15.5 Punting: 8

He seems to have a particular problem with bullet passes underneath the coverage.

Compared to many WRs I've seen around my level his catching seems right on track, and I'm not planning on making him a burner, just enough speed/agi to get open and make the sure catch. This leads me to believe it's maybe vision or confidence... or strength? What do you think?

Also, if anyone has any input on what to cap first on a possession WR, advice is certainly welcome.

Tell me about it...there is nothing worse than dropping wide open passes

Ah, that does suck!

Just curious, what does his build look like? Lacking vision maybe? Those are the kind of plays that would get you benched in any real league.

But that's exactly what I'm talking about, how do we fix that?

You think that's bad? Look at this, my level 22 WR

These are THREE PLAYS IN A ROW:

http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=91256&pbp_id=2781300
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=91256&pbp_id=2781327
http://goallineblitz.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=91256&pbp_id=2781357

To start the game. And the very next pass to him on the next drive:

And yes, he's high catching, higher than most level 22 vision and confidence too. On par with the rest of the WRs on the team.

You've got 15 confidence... That's your problem.

Yea it's amazing how much low confidence can shut down a receiver. It seems like a catch 22. You can go a whole season and not have lower confidence hurt you. Which allows you to put points into something else. Then you start a game with a drop and 3 more are sure to follow. It's kind of like house insurance. You pay the premiums for a couple of years and it feels like a waste of money because you didn't need to use it. When something bad happens is the day you're glad you have it.

I've noticed if you keep vision/catching/confidence within a few points of each other, you'll be a lot more consistent.

I had a TE with 35 jump/35 catch. He was dropping balls left and right. As soon as I got vision and confidence to 25ish, he catches nearly everything.

I have been working on both vision and confidence this season. Got vision to 31+ and confidence to 25+ and no problems the past 4 games. Keeping my fingers crossed though waiting for that next drop to see what happens.

I def. agree with Conf. being the cause of multiple drops, but I also think that you may need to work on catching a little. It seems pretty good, but if that really was a "bullet" pass. You may not have high enough catching for that. You would have to check with your QB obviously to ind out.

Even if you're going to be a possesion guy you still need to softcap speed/agility to make seperation .

And don't forget vision , seems like many WRs totally ignore that skill (same for confidence) .
