D-Leagues are CPU controlled ones. To me, they exist to help new players catch up before they're expected to be a contributor. They're also so that the player can earn cash and some exp. Roughly like the newbie area in most MMOs, a safe place to learn about the game, without the pressure of people ripping you for playing poorly.
Basically, I was looking long term for your player. To help you gain the most bang for your buck, so to speak. First off, what/where is your equipment? Secondly, what does your special ability trees look like? Thirdly, are you a starter or back-up? Lastly, Do you want to be built as a blocker (OL in the backfield), a rushing FB (basically the equivalent to a power HB) or somewhere in between (like my FB, whose more of a blocker, but can run decently enough to be a threat).
Certain stats/skills become more or less important, depending on which way you decide. Overall you want to be efficient to get the most production, yet also keep in mind later on when your player reaches their peak. So stats like strength are key, because it affects, both rushing and blocking. Speed and vision are like strength, in that they help both aspects of a FB's game. Agility is more suited to a runner, but it does help blocking a bit. Stamina is very important to a certain point, but once you find the "sweet spot", it's not important at all. Carrying is only important to a runner, if you don't get more than a couple carries a game, don't bother raising it past 20 at the moment. Confidence is helpful as well, it will help prevent a bad play from ruining the rest of your game (like a fumble or a missed block). Blocking is important, but it doesn't have to be super high, since you'll generally be going against LBs and SSs or double teaming DL.
Right now it appears this game is all about min/max early on, then eventually leveling off into something a bit more balanced. Although there are some builds out there that exploit poor design in the sim.
