Frequently Asked Questions:

How are these ratings calculated?
- At the beginning of the year, before the first game, they are purely based on average levels and chemistry. They average level calculations are weighted by position, and account for starters and backups. Over the course of the season, since levels obviously aren't the only measure of a team, the ratings slowly adjust any time actual results differ from what the ratings predicted. The goal is to have the most accurate possible measure of the teams throughout the league, come the end of the season.

What do the numbers actually mean?
- A "100" rating (before adjustments) would indicate a team that is the highest level team in the league at every single individual position, AND has 100 chemistry. A "0" rating would indicate a team with no players on its roster.

Can the ratings be converted to predictions?
- Yes, in any game, the higher rated team is favored by 2.8 points for every 1.0 points of rating differential. A 90 would be favored by 28 over an 80, for example.

How are the adjustments calculated?
- A team earns an adjustment bonus of 1.0 for every 20 points by which they beat the spread, each game. So beating the spread by 1 is worth a +0.05 adjustment. Teams that underperform vs. the spread receive an equal penalty. These adjustments are capped at a maximum of +/- 2 points from any one game, so if a team is significantly over or under rated it will take several weeks for their rating to catch up with reality.

Why should we care about your rankings when you aren't even in this league?
- My rankings are a purely numerical system, so it doesn't require firsthand knowledge. The fact that I'm not in the league doesn't matter. That being said, it's entirely up to you whether you choose to care.

Why are you calculating rankings for this league?
- The formula I'm using for these rankings is a work in progress. My goal is to make it as accurate of a predictor as it can be, so to improve it I need data. I'm already doing this for three other leagues that I have a personal attachment to, but I wanted another league's worth of data to add to my sample size for regression analysis. I chose USA Pro as that league, because it is generally considered the pinnacle of GLB, so I figured it was the best option.

If you have any other questions, feel free to ask! If you enjoy the ratings, I'm glad and you're welcome! If you think the ratings suck, you are fully entitled to your opinion!

Enjoy

There's no way we should be ranked over the Nasty, Pushovers, and Coyotes though... We've never beaten those teams as of yet.

#15 in the West, looks like if we win it will come down to builds and tactics.

Last time we played you I think it went like kickoff, 3 and out, field goal by Ray finkle. Hopefully we can get a little bit of that

Looks like you are being relegated, sorry Flames. We'll see you again in Season 6.

Should I just go ahead and stop making adjustments now ?

Edit: btw good job with these, happy to have a statistical power ranking but consider putting a "voter" weight behind them too maybe? either way I'm happy to work my way up.
