I have my route run at 5, anyone here see a benefit of going to 6? I'm a possession receiver

I have mine at 6 and it works really well for the underneath stuff. You need the agility for it though.

actually the skill pretty clearly states you don't need agility for it to be effective. Ignore the name of the ability. Pretend it says 'This gives you a flat, constant bonus to Speed and Agility. It's a flat bonus and not a percentage, so it doesn't require a lot of speed or agility for it to be helpful, and in fact is less helpful the higher your speed and agility are.'

My WR has speed and agility in the low 30s and 5 in run route.
He went 5/5 for 48 yards and 2 touchdowns. I had never seen him so wide open.

If it is a flat bonus and you were at the soft cap for both speed and agility wouldn't it be more helpful then if not at the soft cap? Lets say you get a 2xp bonus to the speed skill (just an example). If at the soft cap that 2xp bonus would be worth 4xp. So how is it less helpful the higher your speed and agility is if it is a flat constant bonus?

It's helpful, but let's say you get it up to where it's a 10pt bonus...
If you have 20 speed/agi and get a +10 bonus, that's a 50% increase. If you have 50 spd/agi and get a +10 bonus, that's only a 20% increase. That's how it is "less helpful"

Yea i mean, its more valuable in terms of skill point equivilancy, but less helpful in terms of how big of a percentage increase it is for you. I wasn't ever saying it wasn't worth it, but dont be fooled by how much of a help it can be at level 7 and put a ton of SP in it late.
That being said, depending on the increase per point, it could still be worth it. Assuming it gives you 1 point in spe/agi per 1 point of RR (a very arbitrary assumption), if youre soft capped on those 2, each of those RR levels is worth 4 skill points. Of course, just because its a flat increase doesn't mean its linear. going from 0 to 1 RR could be worth more than going from 5 to 6. It seems to make more sense that it's linear but again, thats just an assumption.
But all that aside, if i had to guess, i'd say increasing route run up until it costs 2 skill points per increase is probably worth it. However, i'd definately soft cap speed and agility first; losing those .33 post-soft cap increases isnt worth more yards in your D or A leagues.

The bonus for Route Running is MORE than +1 and I am sure of this as I've seen Bort write this somewhere (can't seem to find link) .
Personally I like the skill , and with capped speed/agility I think it's one of the best SAs , no matter if you're speedster or possesion .

if you could track that down id love to see it. ive yet to see bort comment directly on any WR SA, but without a search function its real hard to track stuff down.

Yeah that's my problem , I tried when I posted that but I just couldn't seem to find it anywhere .
But I don't lie , I'm certain he said that
Edit: Da da da daaaah ! http://goallineblitz.com/game/forum_thread.pl?thread_id=125&page=2
About halfway down Bort says it , it's not Route Running in specific , but yet it proves my point I guess (old post , but don't think he has ever changed it)
Happy now knudlen ?

Actually, that 20% is a little off, if you take into consideration it takes 2 skill points for every stat increase.... You are correct with the final outcome, however if you look at it from a time vs. skill point view, its more worth it too have spd/agi soft capped.

audioaltima,
well, I'm assuming the speed is a linear value and a 20% increase in your speed gives you a 20% increase in speed. Sure, it may give you a higher efficiency in skill point equivalence, but it still only gives you 20% more speed in which a lower level player would get 50% more speed. So, I understand your point, it's just not the point I was trying to make.
