Because they could be paying you 5 dollars to draw something in Microsoft Paint. I have a Photobucket folder specifically devoted to this game...

The thing is, doing it for free isn't as wasteful as some people might think. When you do stuff like that, you make connections that can really help out with placing a player, getting a GM job, etc. Heck, I'm a DC on a Pro team right now that I started out making graphics for.
