So there was heavy speculation before the new sim came out that speed DE's would suffer on run defense.

Fair enough.

But it also sounds like they've taken away the speed edge rush. Anyone out there with a good speed edge rusher doing well so far? My DE was never built for the speed rush (didn't know that it was the way to go when I was building my player), but I'm just trying to get ideas for what an effective DE does now. Ironically, I did pick up a sack in our first game as a str/agi DE. But even with high str, if I don't shed the block right away, my DE is f*cked.

My speed guy had 7 Tkl, 1 Hry, and 4 Sacks in the first scrimmage. The sacks came when the QB rolled my way, however.

2 tkl 2 hurry 1 sack against a OT 2 lvls higher than me.

im technically not a speed build since my highest skill is agi but i dont have that much str since i focus on spd and agi

I think the better question is, how many speed DEs have had a good performance with the QB staying in the pocket. Only good performances I've seen thus far are when QBs start to work outside the pocket.

yea. both of my hurries and both of my sacks came on scrambles
both the hurries and one of the sack came when the qb rolled towards me
the other sack came when the Qb scrambled the other way

So some decent stats. But what about the rush? Does it look like your guy is doing a real edge rush like they used to at all? Also, anyone find their DE is providing good run support? It seems like the DT occasionally shakes of a block to get a TFL, but otherwise it's a run for 5+ yards.

well definitely the outside rush for me is rare/non-existent but the run stopping has been there
way outside runs (as in pitches way out of my range) usually rip for like 7-15.
the inside run however is getting murdered by our D-Line. my De with only 45 str got 3 tfl.

Wow. This has got to be mostly agility, right? How would speed be helping you here? Mind saying what your agility is? I have 65 agi and I wasn't able to do that much against the run.

60 agi and 40 speed.

i dont know if you would call mine a speed end but i have 59 str 50 sp and 73 agl. i had 5 tackles with 2 for loss today.

i had over 40 hurries last year, ranking in the top 5, plus i led the playoffs in hurries, so far in the 2 scrimmages i have zero, i'd say the speed edge rush has been nerfed

i was checking my settings and noticed something as well in the advanced settings. you have the option for evasive rushing, bull rushing, or a combination of both. if you have high agility you might try that. i set mine to evasive to see what the results look like. that might be why guys arent doing too well. they are speed rushers trying to bull over tackles and getting overpowered.

I just had a scrim with my 73 agility/53 speed RDE set to evasive . . . 1 hurry, although in his defense, it was a badass hurry.
