I had a level 13 LB yesterday sign for a contract that paid him damn near HALF of what I was going to pay him and on a team full of CPUs, I was just left flabbergasted.

I think part of it is that people want to start and rack up stats for some reason, even if it's on a bad team.
Though, that certainly doesn't explain why our team wasn't able to sign many FA's early on. (Our team is shaping up pretty nicely now, but it took a LOT of effort to get where we are)
