I know starting this upcoming season, agility will affect speed, but does it help with shedding blocks? Can a de with low strength and high agility actually get around a strong OT? discuss

he can if he never makes contact with the OT.

Agility is the most important stat for pass rushing. That's not to say you can neglect your strength - you don't want to get pancaked, after all.

Miked33... Dude your DE is the shit! Are you the one that said vision50+ is the way to go? Here's my build, please critique me if you ever get back to this thread. I'm going to have 20 SP and I wonder if I should soft cap vision or invest in SA's. would love any advice, thanks... Nick

miked, on the scouting report, it says your de is not that good (no greens), but you got the stats. How high is your agility for your de?

My guy's base agility is 60+. My bars are low (not that they mean anything) because my strength is very low.

Yes, my guy has 50+ vision, but it's not necessarily the way to go for all DE builds. I'm headed out now, but I'll get back to you in PM tonight or tomorrow.

So, in your opinion, is agility or speed more important at this point? Or, should they be more or less balanced.

Agility is our bread and butter, and with the upcoming changes to speed this will be only more true.

cool wanted to pick you brain for weeks now lol... I kind of wish I didn't have so much invested in strength already, since all I wanted was a sick twisted pass rusher... But why doesn't your DE get pancaked all over the place if his strength is so low? I'm so confused

And does your DE fare against the rush?

It all depends on your build. My build is a bit unconventional. Speed is the most important attribute for my guy, followed closely by agility with vision far behind that and strength being close to worthless. If you're building a strength based or balanced DE, from what I've read it seems agility > speed. I couldn't really give you much more advice than that.

Sorry I haven't had a chance to get back to you yet, I'm a little behind on PMs. There are many successful pass rushing DEs with high strength, but I haven't got a clue how to build one. My guy's strength is less than 30.

As for pancakes, I have a theory that agility is actually equally or more important than strength in preventing them. I don't have much evidence except for the fact that starting LOTs against my team this regular season only accumulated 2 pancakes.

I think my DE does pretty well against the run. It's hard to tell for sure because so few runs go to the left side at this point. My guy does actually make a lot of plays on runs up the middle or even to the right side though.

Thanks for discussing this Mike. Just out of curiosity, it seems like when Julius gets sacks/hurries he rarely even engages with the LT. In that case is there any point in SA tree, or do simply realy on superior speed and agility?

P.S. Feel free to tell me to go fly a kite at any time.
