And jumping allows you to dive at the QB, giving you the quick finishing burst to get to the QB
Speed will help you if you drop back into pass coverage, where there is a lot of open field, or if you are pursuing a runningback running to the outside (or pursuing a scrambling QB who's left the pocket), but for a tracking down a QB in the pocket or filling a hole between the tackles, speed isn't needed too much.
What?! Jumping? I've never heard that before. That last dive isn't really going to help you out too much. Blitzing is all about your start. Bad jump, you're getting blocked easily. Good jump, you have a better chance of getting to the QB. And your start all begins with AGI..
AGI is the most important stat for pass coverage LBs. Yes they have to work in space, but if you don't have that Change of Direction skill to stay with receivers and backs, you will get juked outta your jogstrap on cuts. AGI is what makes you stay with guys on every one of their cuts.
So all in all, AGI is a KEY stat in being a LB.
