way to many tackles, thus allows way to many catches. CBs should have little to no stats to be effective. Nice on the FFs and PDs though

Depends on how many of those tackles were:

- On runs
- On other people's man
- Tackling the receiver short of the marker on 3rd down

I'm too lazy to look, but it's not hard to rack up 10 tackles on runs if a team is running all pitch plays.

True, but it is fair to assume most came right after an allowed catch.

QFT

I'd rather have CBs who have 3-5 tackles a game. That normally means they did they job on pass coverage and either the passes were not thrown their way or else a PD or incomplete. Yeah against running teams that pitch out a lot, you'll see more or maybe even a 100% blitz team (if the sim runs right) but those are the exceptions rather than the rule.

And to be clear all CBs together can have 5 each, but if one has 2-3 times as many as the others. Time to look at either the build or the player tactics.

My opinion only, your mileage may varry

Gerry Rice, if we're going by newcomers in general.

CB is one of the toughest positions to judge. A corner back with a high number of tackles either does give up a lot of receptions or is really good in run defense. They can also get tackles when another CB allows a catch. Just and example, I have a CB in A6 who had 97 tackles and 59 PD. He was only throw to maybe 6 times a game. He would give up about 2 catches per game. The rest of his tackles came on pitches or even sometimes he would get in on an inside run that got by the LB. Without watching the games, it is pretty much impossible to tell how good a CB is.

well yeah but again, just over 6 tackles a game... close to my range

Sheesh... but yeah, watching the games and plays is the key and for sure on the pass plays.

Thrown to 6 times a game, not caught on 6 times. He has 59 PD so that is over 3 PD per game. He gets caught on more like 2-3 times per game. About 50-60% of his tackles are in run support.

I'm just saying some CB out there get a majority of their tackles in run support, not all. Serenity's could be one of those.

well yeah, see I agree with that... damn it man do not make me come over there and beat on you!!!! And with that high of PD that 'SEEMS' to reflect a better pass coverage guy. Again numbers in this game mean squat... just general trends... and of course waiting for the sim to run leads to long threads like this... too much time... bah!

Tyante's cornerback is really good. And he likes to visit the local San Francisco Gay Club scene.

One of my CBs on a Western Europe team has had a couple instances where he's had around 10 tackles in a game, leading me to freak out and check every tackle he has been involved in--only to find that he got most on tackling pitches.

And as I watch replays of Baby Koala, it looks like he's simply racking up the tackles because he's allowing his man to catch the ball. It looks like his coverage is set to either loose or medium, which probably leads to a lot of completions.

Or because he's way lower level then most of the WR's in general.

And if we were just going newcomers in general I'd nominate Aragorn, but I would consider a rookie to be newcomer AND being around or under the average level of the league (currently 16ish)
