I was looking at both and I thought it would make more sense to swap them. The FS tree has shutdown coverage as its last ability, but wouldn't that make more sense for SSs because they are matched up in 1 on 1 coverage with a TE more often. The SS tree has sticky hands, but wouldn't that make more sense for the FS? What are your thoughts? Agree or disagree? etc.

Eh, I like having closing speed in the hard hitting tree for FS. But I would love to have super vision and change direction be the first two skills in my tree. It makes sense for FS to have shutdown coverage because they are matched up against WR's more and cover over the top more. Where as SS are on TE's and covering underneath more than a FS so they get more chances at interceptions.

the only thing kind of strange for me is the sticky hands for a SS. you have to remember that a SS generally watches the run more and a FS watches the pass more, so it would make more sense for the FS to have shutdown coverage. that is unless you play a team that lines up its TE on the SS side every play

edit: didn't see riggs post until now, but it's the same idea. and i didn't think about covering underneath so that helps me understand the sticky hands a little more, thanks

watch your DE come out to cover the TE...sometimes it helps to watch the plays develop and actualy see who is covering who each play. The FS covers wich ever reciever that goes the deepest. The FS is just a cover guy.

actually safetys will sometimes play man in big WR sets or on the TE/HB and come in against the run

I just added 2 points to Super Vision last level up for my SS, so I'm going to watch this game and see if I notice anything big.

Is his attribute vision high? I've seen quite a few DBs that have like super vision 5, and then like 25 vision, and I just scratch my head.

Hmm, looks like i got owned in this thread, oh well. I see both sides of the argument now, looks like i was a little off on my assumptions.

I think Nuts is pretty much spot on with what he said in his first post. What you gotta remember is that the FS will probably be sitting in a zone more often than not, and shutdown coverage is a skill that boosts your skills when playing man-to-man. If your team is running a lot of zone defense, it is pretty much useless and you are better off spending the points elsewhere.

And I think Sticky Hands is a skill that the FS should definitly have, possibly replacing the Shutdown Coverage skill, which in my opinion, only CBs should have.

Don't worry, no FS in their right mind would put points into Shutdown anyway.

Not really. At least not the way it seems the game sim runs things. My FS is usually on the field for 50 or so plays per game, maybe 2 or 3 of those is he matched up 1 on 1 with a receiver (even in our man coverage sets). He's usually sitting back and mostly watching QB's and making breaks on passes thrown to (already-covered-by-a-CB) WR's.

It's nothing at all like the way a CB typically plays.

in most of the defensive plays for the team my guy is on, the FS generally assumes a roll of double covering a WR once the WR gets 5 or 10 yards deep on the play. that is when he becomes another CB, and therefore why i think it happens a lot
