Hey guys, I'm a DT owner who is planning on retiring his DT and building a new CB.

If I were to slow-build a CB, what would the best road be? This is the plan I've formed in my head, I'm wondering if you guys could possibly critique it and look for flaws.

I'm going to dump all my points into Speed immediately, and build it up to 48. Then, I'm not going to add points until I sign my player with a human team. I'll Train Agility, Vision, and Stamina, training Agility for 3 days, then Vision for 3 days, then Stamina for 1 day.

Does this seem like a good plan? I'm guessing then, when I'm around Level 8-10, I'll pour my saved SPs into Agility and Vision, and Train Stamina from there. Is this a good groundwork for a CB? Is there anything I'm forgetting? Thanks, experienced help would be appreciated.

to slow build, u should save your initial 15 SP, and train speed. After u lvl a few times, u should have enough to get speed directly to the soft cap. Lvl 3 or 4 depending on your roll. then you should do the same with agi, vision.

There's no point in Training Speed for more than a day. Once I get it up to 48, it will cost 2 SPs. If I earn a point for Speed over 2 days, that saves me a point getting Speed to 48. I can then spend that point somewhere else.

But I can just train that point somewhere else initially, and I'll have a guy that can actually move in the D-Leagues. Get what I mean? I'll slow train all non-Speed abilities.

Don't Train Agility/Vision if you'll be boosting them heavily with points IMO, as CBs need to have decent levels in their minor stats (Strength, Catching, Jumping, Tackling). Work on those about equally with training. Also don't bother hoarding your points up; the point of getting to the soft cap is to get better value from the points that're automatically assigned when you level. If you could have the stat at 48 and are just sitting on them, they're going to waste. (I realize you'd do that so you could train them in the mean time, but then you're neglecting your minor stats and will suffer for it.. CBs need some balance.)

Also, Vision > Agility IMO, if you're going to try and quickly cap them both out, I'd do Vision first.

the point is, u asked how to slow build. "SLOW BUILD" think about that. your not going to get results right away..thats the point. if u train speed before you put points into it, u will get a large return. that way it will take less points to actually get it to 48. if done right, with a good roll, u can get speed to the soft cap after u lvl to 3. u will only spend 2 lvls being slow, and its the d leagues anyways, who cares, u still get playing time.

an example of a slow playing build is my DT

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=615490

He has 65 strength at lvl 7. now, i am focusing on agility. I have trained it to a little over 30, and i have 10 sp saved. when i lvl up, i will invest all 15 into agility. with equipment, i will have a lvl 8 DT with 69.5 strength and 48 agility, and 20 stamina. Then i will work on stamina, speed, and tackling. that is how to slow build aplayer, it isnt exactly fun, and i wouldn't suggest someone with only 1 player do it, but i answered your question.

one recommendation... what I've done with my CB "so far"

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=647338
I'm putting points and equipment into speed only (trained him on speed until level 3). I'm now training agility and after i soft cap speed at 48 I'll put all points into agility while training vision...

I did basically what phat is recommending (focusing on one stat fully at a time and getting the most out of training main attributes while they are low... I did put my first 15 points fully into stam to start my guy so that he would get "decent" play time which is how you get xp obviously. D-leagues usually give decent play time, but especially if you are a back-up most my D-league guys got more plays than the higher level starters because I had level 25 stam right away and have been leveling fairly quickly and getting the most out of my time in the D-leagues...

Oh just a warning... you will suck when your nothing but speed with no agility or vision... just accept it and know you'll be getting "double worth" from the points you naturally get every level with every attribute you have soft-capped at 48

I would find a D-League team where you'll start or be nickel CB. I'd then spend all 15 of my initial SP on stamina so I stay on the field the most. Stay in the D-Leagues as long as possible and never use any of your SP. Play on relaxed. Train whatever gives the most points each night, with a special emphasis on speed/agility/vision. That's how I built one of my CBs (but I didn't keep him in the D-Leagues as long) and I'm liking the way he's turning out.

the stamina thing is definitely good advice that i forgot to mention. while im not sure about throwing the entire 15 into it, it would pay to invest some in. I got my DT to 20 when he started, and he is able to play 50+ plays per game, and get back to 100 training normal or relaxed.

When "slow building" are you supposed to boost the final day of the season? Does this defeat the purpose?

I think.... slow building means getting as much out of training as possible... so not spending points right away, and training up your key stats while they are still low.

Boosting is always a good thing as your player will have a "life time" and you will want to get as high of a level as possible before you begin to decline

Not at all. Spending the SP may, but getting a 15SP boost before the next season is desirable.

On the equipment, if you have the $$$ to do it, buy your first 1-2 rounds of equipment on What you need. Gives you the stats but doesn't effect the training so your slow build will still train on the base #. Once you get it to a good level, sell the equipment and focus it all on one key stat, especially if that stat has hit the soft cap. Getting an 8-12 point boost (1-3 levels of equip) where it'd cost 2 SP per is a nice bonus.

Whats the best roll you can get with a CB? So far I have managed to get the Punt/Kick down to 8, but passing never seems to go below 9. And when those two are at 8, speed is like 10.

EDIT: never mind got a triple 8's, but speed was so low and jumping was at like 16, that would have made the slow build just too slow for me.

I rolled a CB a few weeks ago, he ended up with 8 blocking, 8 kicking, 8 punting and 8 throwing.

It took a long time to get those 8's, plus high points in Speed and Agility, but well worth the time when it finally came up.

I just hit Level 3 and Speed is already up to 49.66.
