Warrior General Games

A DE on my team has become a solid pass rusher... He's among the league leaders in hurries (25 through 11 games), but has yet to seal the deal. That's right, a whopping ZERO sacks.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

What you really need is a stat-padding game against opponents 5 levels lower. Thats how most DE's collect sacks anyway

But, more seriously, agility and speed will help you more than strength. Strength will help you past the OL but agility and speed will allow you to lay a hand on the QB, as will Vision. Don't discount jumping either... that little bit of extra reach could make all the difference.

Tell him to stop putting points into the 5th ability. Monster Hit and Big Sack both aren't worth it until that becomes his weakness... probably never. Speed Agility, First step, and Tunnel Vision can all help DE's get there quicker. I would probably soft cap his attributes and then pick one ability to raise until his hurries turn into sacks, then go back to shed block to get even more hurries, then back to the ability to turn them into sacks again. Rinse repeat for the next 10 levels or whatever.

no its cuz i was a lvl 10 playing against lvl 18 tackles for most of my career.
just got a new team and in 3 games against lvl 15, 17, and lvl 20 tackles i got 4 hurries. so i think my guy is coming along well with not that much str.

Your speed is lacking, 60 spd will help you get them sacks.

Speed. Most people don't understand the speed you need.

OP, tell him to never train/spend SP on tackling or big sack or pretty much anything in the containment tree again and to get speed to 60+. Also, tunnel vision.

Bump - While we lost our first playoff game, he was able to get some more points into speed. The results were immediate... Led our league in sacks with 3 on the day, also recording a pair of hurries.
