Can anyone post a replay of Catch Fake firing on any back running a route out of the backfield? Or conversely, have a Bort quote saying it doesn't work?

Don't have any example but it should work for any receiver running a route. I do know it works on TE's. Try PM'ing Kenshinzen. He's a huge 'Catch Fake' person and might know the answer.

Works but don’t have proof because wasn’t in one of my players and is retired without his name.

I have a question about catch fake. Is it better than juke with the QF VA, or is it just about having two bites at the apple?

fwiw, apples and oranges IMO.

Juke/HF enhances the cuts you already do as a route runner, and also as ball carrier after the catch.

Catch Fake is only powered by the SA itself, and it's triggered at certain points during a route. That's why I wasn't sure it even worked on scat backs. Every route had to be individually coded to have a CF trigger in it. There seem to be a metric ass ton of RB routes that don't trigger CF, but there's at least one that does, so there's probably more.

What goes into getting catch fake to fire. Is it more likely to fire for a WR with high agility or some other attribute. Or is it based only on the points in Catch Fake and some sort of "need to" calculation like Pump fake?

Just more points in the SA.

Catch fake can fire whenever the player hits a waypoint in his route. This is usually a cut, but it can also be when he hits his hot spot.

So, the thing about catch fake is it only fires when you have a defender close to you during the route. RB/FB routes often have 50%+ of the route with no defender near them since they are behind the line of scrimmage. Thus unless you were making a pure pure speed RB/FB, I'd generally recommend Juke > Catch Fake on those positions.

For the most part, you only use Juke (and head fake) at those 'way points' also. The thing is, there are more 'waypoints' in a route than it would appear from looking at the drawing. Even a one cut route has way points before the cut where the receiver can cut early and spots after the cut where they can 'sit' down in open space, and all those are opportunities to do a juke, head fake or catch fake. Heck, even a straight go route has some waypoints in it. Plus, if you use creative route running, the receiver is less bound by the waypoints and thus can do a Juke or Head fake anywhere in the route. IDK if that is the same for Catch Fake. I'd think so, but most of the creative route runners I've personally seen focused mainly on Juke, QC or FS (or both) and high agility and vision, so IDK about Catch Fake in that regard.

I think there is truth to that. Sometimes when Juke fires during pass routes you can't easily tell who hit it because it seems to be able to fake out defenders who are no where close to the player who executed it. I can't say I've seen that with Catch Fake. I wonder though, is Catch Fake affected by Superior Vision the same way Juke and Head Fake are? Sometimes when head fake and even Juke fires, it doesn't do much, and I know SV helps with that. I wonder does that work the same against Catch Fake? It seems like when Catch Fake fires it almost always has a big affect; maybe I'm misremembering though. My team has been coming back up from rookie reset for the past few months...
