I guess I don't know where to start. I started playing GB back when I was like 11 with an elementary buddy of mine. We have since gone our separate way since high school...

Many years have passed since I last logged on, but recently, I noticed an ad on my FB time line and was like,this is still going on? Is it true? is it worth coming back? How many people are still playing this simulator? How many people from the original seasons BEFORE pee wee's were even a thing are still here?

Long story short, my love for the game of football has me looking for someplace to fill the void during this off season, but my drive to be an actual football coach one day wants me to play. If I'm going to dedicate the time, I need to know if it is even worth playing...

The hardcore are still here. Not as active as it once was. I recently remembered GLB myself , having a blast and trying to share it with new audiences.

If you really want to coach you might give coaching a try here. While you won't learn the interactive parts of the job, you will learn how skills translate into the quality of your play selection... matching the skills of a dot to the position and situations you place them in and to become successful at that. You'll also learn how to create playbooks based off the talent you have to work with... stuff like that.
As for interactions here, most left are us long time hard core players that still have fun with the game. I count myself among the few for few we are as compared to when this game 1st started.

Thank you both for your input. While I do agree, this isn’t like REAL football, it my help me with play calling in a future coaching job, if that ever comes to fruition. Lots to consider, I have a ton of Flex points and free players, may even start a team.

TBH, even though you're acquainted with the game in general, you might want to simply get back into the swing of it for now (one season at least). Here's a couple of links to quality teams/owners who you could sign up with to start;

This is Bandit's team... just starting in Rookie League and looking for dots;

[link to owner] http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/home.pl?user_id=45201

Here's a link to Stoned Beaver's Peewee team that's going to be a one season thing;

[link to team] http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/team.pl?team_id=7504

[link to owner] http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/home.pl?user_id=105916

Might PM one or both of these agents and spend a season getting back into the groove.

solid game. gotta find what you like whether it's building or coordinating.

if you take the 30-60 mins to really learn to build and understand a decent build guide. you'll enjoy the game at level 79.

if not, you'll struggle to find a good team and hate the game.

if you prefer not waiting to be good, go play peewee and have some fun

If you want to get into real coaching, GLB will do nothing for you. You need to volunteer with a local high school program, get a copy of the playbook and soak it all in until it's fully understood. Then, ask for access to their game film and break down every play from last season. Chart tendencies, what works when and against what, etc. Get in the "film room" with the paid staff and ask a million questions until they tell you to shutup and then ask a million more. Attend every workout, practice, game, and team-building activity. Read every book you can find on coaching, football strategy, and, most importantly, sports psychology. Find football coaching conferences near your area and sit as close to the speakers as possible; introduce yourself and ask questions afterward. Finally, ask to run a few workouts and practices and take on as many responsibilities as they'll give you even if you feel like you're not ready.

If you can do that, you'll be on your way to being a good coach. If your road map starts with playing GLB, you're not really that serious about it.

GLB is not football. It's dotball.

Nothing wrong with dotball, mind you. VERY fun. But it's not football.
