Does the game consider interceptions to be a type of deflection? If I use a veteran point to improve my deflection chance does that also improve my interception chance? Or are they two completely different things to the game? Thanks.

No, they are completely different. The interception is rolled for first, then the deflection. There are no veteran abilities that affect your interception % chance directly.

Uh... actually... yes it does improve your interception chance but NOT in the way you think it does. DonkeyMan is mostly right. I spent a bit of time looking for a recent post showing Bort's explanation of exactly how the progressions go in the making of a passing play outcome but couldn't find it (which sucks)... BUT I do remember that part of the process is where the defender makes his 'deflection' on the incoming pass AND that, if successful, then gets a chance to intercept that deflection. In effect you get several chances at the Interception. #1, the outright INT where your dot simply catches the pass before the WR even gets a shot at it... #2, the chance to make the INT off the deflection... #3, the chance to make the INT off the KL (after the WR makes the catch).

In this manner the ability to deflect a pass DOES help in making some INT's but it DOES NOT effect the % chance of any special ability (which DonkeyMan pointed out). I know it sounds confusing.
