So I've read a few other threads and get the feeling some of the more experienced guys dont like the SA (QR or LO) that much. Would getting first step instead be a decent option and should he get back to pocket quicker ? If worth the investment how low can speed be to be successful at reaching the pocket quick enough?

and the top first three SA's should be 10-11 each regardless of addition SA correct ?

Yes, top tree's first three SAs should be 10-11. LO and QR suck. I've never thought about First Step, but it's not a bad idea. I suggested Aura of Intimidation as the bonus SA on a QB, just a few days ago.

Speed needs to be at least 35, but 50 is much better.

AoI isn't an option to start, unfortunately

Balance
Cover Up
Dive for Yardage
First Step
Head Fake
Hurdle
Juke
Look Off
Lower the Shoulder
Open Field Fake
Power Through
Quick Read
Spin
Spot Blitz
Surge

I'd say QR is the least dumb choice. At least if you end up with 1 or 2 SPs at the end of your build you could put them there.

But there's nothing in the list worth investing in... unless 1st Step happens to help drop back, which I have no idea if anyone has ever tried.

tl;dr

pick whichever one makes you happy to look at, but never waste points in any additional SA

Need to uncheck the box that shows only "relevant" SAs

Having built several successful Pocket arch QB's (it's my favorite QB arch) I can advise as follows and it'll be a bit different than most here (and shall be pooh-pooh'd by many but )

First of all make damn sure the OC both knows it's a pocket passer and HOW to set up the playbook for one. Seriously... trying to use the Deep passer setup for a well built pocket passer QB just doesn't work well.

Passing skill should hit 100 natural MINIMUM. Strength can halt around 90-95. Vision between 90-100 natural. Speed 50-70. Agility 70-85.

In the tree; PP, Tight Spiral, and FG. should all hit 10 at least. I've never tried 1st step but your idea on it sounds interesting. Agree with Dave that AoI is the one you should seek.

Make sure you have Pass Quality and Quick Release. If you can squeeze it in, Pass Distance is also good but most of your passes will (SHOULD) be short and medium routes. Think Drew Breeze or Rich Gannon for inspiration.
