I played 3-4 years ago but not since then. Just logged in for the first time since then and I noticed the changelog hasn't been updated since 2013... is the game dead? Or is it still active?

People still play and there are a lot of Rookie teams starting up and needing players. Today is the last day to build a new one the right age. You could retire your players and get the flex back and in the teams looking for players forum ask what is needed, build one a join us! A lot of agents are coming back here lately! Good luck!

Is there a good up to date / current new build guide? I don't remember anything about this game lol

And what positions are in high demand?

I'll PM you a basic build guide. And teams are needing defense and O-linemen I think. I have problems finding both. Even FS and SS I think are fun to build and cool to watch play are in high demand. At least last I looked. HBs, QBs and WRs are what most like to build and are a dime a dozen IMO. Maybe not all good ones, but still plentiful.

I think it's the last day to boost this season, which you should do. Meaning boost this season before it ends. And I know it's the last day to make a player if you want him to be the right age and get all the training points.

Boost day 48 or whatever day bort announces the last day of the season usually day 48 tho
