Anyone have any thoughts as to putting a blocking fb in the hb position on passing plays instead of a hb or is it still better to just put in your phb and not take the hit on the oop penalty.

I would say the penalty is to overwhelming to take just keep your phb on the field

way back 20 seasons or so ago I used a blocking FB in the HB position on passing plays! It was just fine and my HB's had plenty of energy for rushing plays. It worked well for me! I built the FB, set the AI.

Ya having the energy for the hb's for rushing is a good thing also, but what I was thinking that a blocking fb with the blocking attr and the hold block%'s along with the blocking va;s would more than make up for the oop penalty

When considering the possible penalties for OOP dots, always keep in mind that it's a progressive penalty where the MOST likely (most intelligent) replacement gets the smallest penalty and the least likely gets the worst penalty. Example; A CB playing Left Guard is going to suck in a HUGE way as opposed to a Center playing the Left Guard position. For HB purposes, I would say the position that would receive the LEAST penalty would be the FB... followed by the WR... then I'm not sure between the TE and a RQB which would be next. But the FB should get the smallest penalty for playing HB.
