Is this advisable? Would it fire on sweeps and pitches if the tackle is pulling? Or would pulling lineman be better for that? Thanks.

You don't want Outside blocker for a lineman. It requires that the blocking dot be at least 7 yards from the spot of the ball at the start of the play... so, in theory, it wouldn't work for a O-lineman. Might not even work for a TE. It sounds a lot more like a VA for a WR or blocking FB.

If I were building for the purpose you're seeming to be shooting for, I'd go with 2 VA's. One would be Pulling Lineman... the other would be Downfield Blocker. The first would get my dot outside to make blocks... the second would help anytime the dot gets more than 3 yards past the LOS.

It's awesome when this fires and you see your dot go juggernaut-ing out to that point. This was a fair few seasons ago now though (I think).

You've got to be building the whole O-line/offense specific for this purpose which is creating a situation where there is a man short on the o-line for the d-line to take advantage of.

The other thought was is are you think about this as a way of making another build more productive by taking away from an o-line build?

Is there better va's that could be used?

I'll get my coat.

Actually, I'm not as much a fan of 'gimmick offenses' as they're very mono-dimensional and, for a quality DC, easy to gameplan against. Yeah... I know the Power I plays to the outside are all the rage... and probably the hardest to stop continually (eventually they always seem to break one on ya)... but this is freakin football... not rugby. For all those OC's that simply spam the Power I to death, a pat on the back for being myopic. I kinda like my football to look bore like football... with passing and different runs and such. Too bad GLB didn't see eye to eye with me on this for they're the ones that have created the exploitable holes and the mono-dimensional game. Still, I'll build my dots to play football... which means being able to run block and pass block and pull block and downfield block.
To answer your question about 'better VA's, my faves have always been (for O-linemen) Overpower and Pass Blocker. Both do not require a specific focus setting (run/pass/no focus) to work and both have a high quality effect for O-linemen (especially if you have 3 5% hold block pieces when using Overpower!) I like Showboat blocker for a moral hammer against opposing defenders/teams. I also like Pocket Defender and Power Blocker but, with those, you need to really have both so whenever your OC asks you to change your blocking focus, you'll have a VA that effects. Also... they work VERY well for WELL built O-linemen who are good enough to play with a 'no-focus' setting. I strive hard to build those kind of dots where I can use those VA's because they seem to work very well for me.
