A dot starts on Day 40 and boosts on Day 48, how many of the 16 skill points can be carried over to Day 1 and beyond? Can't seem to remember

All of them.

All skill points can be carried over. Are you asking about Training points? There, I believe, is a max on that.

Do you really want to carry over all your SP?

Carry them over to cap a particular skill later unless you can cap it before.

Usually after dot creation, any skill points carried over to the new season are those that weren't used to cap the first skill. You shouldn't really be carrying over training points, and chances are that you wouldn't be carrying many BT's over either.
