PEERLESS PURPLE PENGUIN PROGNOSTICATIONS (PPPP): WEEK TWELVE!!!

While those who only look at the top tier may think our league is static, with Atlanta, Louisville, Lincoln and Niagara monopolizing the top slots, doing these predictions has made our conference seem a lot more interesting this season. Teams are moving up and down in the middle tier in the East, and the race for the playoffs is shaping up nicely as a nail-biter to the final week!

Season Results: 37-10-1
Week Eight Results: 6-2
River City at Red Bank Prediction: RBK 43-10 Actual: RBK 51-7
Niagara at Jax Beach Prediction: NIA 46-26 Actual: NIA 16-12
South Bend at Atlanta Prediction: ATL 27-14 Actual: ATL 37-0
Richmond at Cleveland Prediction: CLV 30-10 Actual: CLV 66-0
Saginaw at Texas Prediction: TEX 23-17 Actual: TEX 12-0
Las Vegas at Roswell Prediction: LV 20-13 Actual: ROS 20-9
Appalachian at Houston Prediction: APP 28-27 Actual: HOU 23-13
Lincoln at Louisville Prediction: LIN 23-18 Actual: LIN 41-16

(8) State of Texas Domination (6-4-1) at Richmond Empire (0-11)-----Despite the fact that Texas is in the thick of the playoff hunt, any game against Richmond lands in the #8 slot almost by default. Texas should thank its lucky stars that they can pretty much mark up a win from the time they get off the bus, and Richmond can thank ITS lucky stars that you can’t get demoted from a BBB league………..TEXAS-83 RICHMOND-0

(7) Cleveland Buckeyes (2-9) at Lincoln Freedom Warriors (9-2)-----Lincoln seems to have found their groove again winning their last three with the crowning achievement a 41-16 thumping of the previously undefeated Louisville Baby Kittens. Smiles abound in Husker Nation as the Freedom Warriors position as one of the best teams in the conference, once in doubt, has now been reestablished. The reward for trouncing Louisville is a mismatch against a struggling Cleveland team. The overwhelming win against Richmond doesn’t prove anything to the Violet Visionary as he sees the Buckeyes returning to their hapless ways.……..LINCOLN-44 CLEVELAND-6

(6) Roswell Invaders (5-6) at Niagara Rapids (9-2)-----Niagara barely pulled out a win against Jax Beach, trailing 9-0 until scoring with barely a minute left in the 3rd quarter. There’s no chance they’ll be looking past Roswell, which doesn’t bode well for the Invaders. After starting the season 2-0, Charlotte/Roswell has encountered tough times but staunched the bleeding somewhat with a win against Las Vegas, another team on the decline, last week. That was only a temporary reprieve, though. Roswell sees its playoff hopes get quite a bit dimmer after this one.………..NIAGARA-42 ROSWELL-16

(5) Louisville Baby Kittens (10-1) at Las Vegas Outlaws (4-7)-----Louisville was shocked by the relative ease with which Lincoln dispatched them and look to regain their winning ways this week. Las Vegas is imploding after a promising start. The Outlaws, losers of their last 5 and 6 of the last 7, are just the cure for the Baby Kitten Blues (someone needs to make a song out of that….”I got the BAAABY KITTEN BLUUUUUUUUES!!!!”) OK, that wasn’t funny and this game won’t be either..……..LOUISVILLE-40 LAS VEGAS-3

(4) Jax Beach Juggernauts (4-6-1) at River City Ransom (1-10)-----Jax Beach is a team headed in the opposite direction from Las Vegas. Yes, they are only 3-2 in their last 5 games, but those 2 losses were to Lincoln and Niagara---no shame there. Add in the way they handled the Rapids until the last quarter, and the Juggernauts are a formidable team indeed! River City is still struggling through their rebuilding mode and can only hope that their efforts yield the same kind of results as Jax Beach has been able to accomplish. Take a look at the Juggernauts, River City, as you prepare for next season. THAT is how it’s done! ……….JAX BEACH-34 RIVER CITY-7

(3) Appalachian Lycans (6-5) at Saginaw Spirit (4-7)-----Two teams that must be disappointed in the way their seasons have panned out, but hope is not lost. Appalachian’s spot in the playoffs is theirs to lose, but for Saginaw, virtually every game is now a “must-win.” Both teams sport great talent, but something is just not clicking in Michigan………..APPALACHIAN-28 SAGINAW-13

(2) Red Bank Thundercats (7-4) at Atlanta Purple Penguins (11-0)-----Red Bank continues to impress week after week and are 7-2 after dropping the first two games of the season. This game could easily result in an upset, but although the Red Bank running game is the most productive in the conference, the Atlanta rushing defense allows only 10 yds per GAME. With the anemic Thundercats passing attack, I don’t think Red Bank has enough to hold off the Penguins for 60 minutes.…………ATLANTA-33 RED BANK-20

(1) GAME OF THE WEEK: Houston Armageddon (6-5) at South Bend ShamRockers (3-8)-----Houston finally reaches what should be the easier portion of their schedule, just in time to run into a South Bend squad that has begun to believe in themselves. Following an 0-5 start, South Bend has lost only to Atlanta, Niagara, and Lincoln. Houston has won 4 of the last 5 after a 3 week drought earlier in the season. The Armageddon have great talent, especially at QB, and looks to have boosted since the early part of the season. While everyone loves a great comeback story, Houston should be able to take advantage of the relative weakness of the ShamRockers defense………..HOUSTON-42 SOUTH BEND-17

We’re getting to the part of the season where every game takes on additional significance as teams jockey for position for either a playoff berth or a home playoff game. After this weekend, a number of teams may have their playoff aspirations virtually all but extinguished if they lose. Look for some very hard fought games this week and for the rest of the season! Gentlemen, let’s play some football!!!

Good Stuff Penguin.

.......'cept, I don't think Richmond has ANY Lucky Stars.

Staying in #7 to be Next Seasons fodder is not considered "Lucky" in 5280's book.

Are you using Webster's or Oxford for this? I know you don't know that many words that start with P, or F for that matter.

Just wanted to say great game to Knightman and his Purple Penguins. Good hard fought game on both sides!

That was a great game to watch. The D's were both stout series after series. Your passing game got going late and that was the difference. The 4 fumbles are misleading since 2 of them came on the same play, but you have to win games when the other team gives you th ball.

When we got the ball back I thought we were going to get the score and sent it to OT. I wished we would have got the FG before the half but it wouldn't have mattered with out the score at the end anyway.

Oh and we managed to knock out 100 yards rushing against your 10 yard average, I'll take that as a moral victory You also had 90+ against our 30 yard average.

Again great job!

I was pretty pleased with the predictions this period.....8-0 and a lot of the scores were very close to the final margin of victory......

And re: Red Bank---man, you guys had me verrrrrry nervous!!!! Gonna have to go back and look at the tape to figure out what you did to shut us down.
