I am looking to create a pass rushing DE who is disruptive in both the run game and the passing game. Though I do want him to specialize in pass rushing ie Freeney, Mathis, Avril. I'm talking about a DE who gets hits, hurries, strip sacks and batted passes. The reason I am asking for help is because im not sure (with the way the game works) if it is possible to have a pass rush specialist who is at least decent against the run.

yes it is very possible, but takes awhile to mature

Use the pass rush archetype

focus on speed and agility, put about 30 EQ in speed and 20 in agility so you end with at least 130speed/120 agility

get both Strength and Tackle to 82+

Vision to 65 min.

play on Wrap-Up tackle and have 2 BB% pieces and at least 1 MT% piece of AEQ

can be successful pass rusher and not a complete liability against the run

just did my 1st VPB run for this dot the other day http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/player.pl?player_id=4548586 and this is what his end build should look like

SPV 1461.6

Position: de_pass_rusher

Level: 79
(3AEQ , Shed Blocks, BB%, MT%, CEQ in BB%)

Attributes:
strength : 84.5
speed : 101.6
agility : 100.1
jumping : 16
stamina : 60.5
vision : 66.1
confidence : 30
tackling : 84.6

Bottom SA Tree: | 9 | 2 | 4 | 7 | 0 | (then +1 CEQ)
Additional SA Tree: | 0 |

Pure Pass Rusher w/ enough STR to avoid getting pancaked a shit ton, and enough TAK to hold his own against the run, at least that's what I am hoping for

Any SAs or VAs that allow QBs to feel hurried even though you aren't really close to them? ( aka ghost pressure)

Yes but they're pointless / don't work.

That's a shame. Does pressure have an accumulative effect? It seems like most QBs with high confidence aren't effected by hits, hurries and sacked.

I think (but don't quote me on this) that you get a much bigger effect from direct hits (sacks) on the QB and INT's and deflects when you're looking for confidence damage on QB's. Hurries, at best, only effect the accuracy of a throw. As for QB's with high confidence, smacking down the TEAM's morale probably effects the QB more than any individual attacks.

What about those SAs that effect morale of an offense? That seems like a useful tool for shutting down an offense.

How can I maximize my pass rushing ability? It has to go further than the numbers right? There have to be some VAs or SAs that help

VA: technique man, pass rusher, bull rusher (if you have the 245 weight) jump the snap

SA: Shed Blocks, tunnel vision, 1st step, maybe some break thru

My DE is 6'1,250lbs. I was hoping to add a ball strip ability in there also but I'm going to do more research on how affective these abilities actually are.

Don't try to make a dot be good at too many things. If you want a pass rusher, build a pass rusher. If you want to force fumbles, focus on that. Don't try to mix the 2 or he won't be really good at either

I meant forcing fumbles as a pass rusher (ball strip, strip sacks). You've given me great advice at being a servicable run defender but I'm not looking to force fumbles in the run game only as a pass rusher. Which leads me to my next question. How effective is the Big Sack ability?

I have never invested very much in BigSack , just does not seem worth the cost to me. Others may like it though.

Just don't see a lot of QB fumbles, and I am not a fan of the morale reducing things. This is just my opinion on BigSack.. I never get much more than the 1 from CEQ in it.
