How effective is QB spy, and would blitz work as a better option than QB spy? Or are there flaws to both?

IMO, it is better used in casual
If you are using a DAI with staggered assignments, keying a few of the primary assignments on the rushing QB should do fine.
But then again, I sucked as a defensive coordinator and didn't care much for fixing my broken AI, so take this as a grain of salt.

As someone whose done a lot of offense with rushing QBs, I can tell you, there are a LOT of times when I see QB Spy being used poorly, and I smile evilly to myself and rack up 400 yards on those poor bastards.
Then there are the rare evil-genius DCs who use QB Spy intelligently and cause me to rend my garments and cry out to the heavens in despair as my rushing QBs average 0.2 yards per carry against them.
Really, QB Spy is like anything else in GLB: if you use it right, it can be very effective. But you have to use it right. And if you're predictable about it, a smart OC will find a way to exploit it and ring you up for 400 yards.

"as a grain of salt"... small, tiny like, not really that valuable but still has a little something something.
Why would anyone take something with a grain of salt, unless they are trying to add flavor to 1 grain of rice?
