I realize that he who shall not be named ran the bugs department, but the support people assigned to fill that absence clearly do not have enough experience with the sim to make judgments about what is and isn't a bug. Does anyone in support even actively coordinate? I realize that some have dots. I also realize that GLB1 isn't going to get much attention because of GLB2, but I'd honestly prefer that the bug ticket system be shut down if there is no honest effort to address GLB1 bugs anymore.
The reason I bring this up is that I've spent the last six months complaining about the reemergence of an old bug where defenders calculate a farther intersect point with the pass and thus continue to run deep, ignoring the receiver who calculates a shallower intersect point and stops to make an uncontested catch while the defender skates on downfield. I know this is a bug because I helped identify it the first time Bort fixed it, and it did go away for a long time. But my attempts to illustrate that the problem has resurfaced have been repeatedly labeled "not a bug," presumably just so the issue can be ignored.
Here's what I'm talking about:
The CB2 never reacts to the pass - http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2527208&pbp_id=3759861
The FS in zone continues downfield and never reacts to the pass - http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2527293&pbp_id=1432262
The CB over the BTE never reacts to the pass - http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2527293&pbp_id=1433008
The SS in zone never reacts to the pass - http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2424642&pbp_id=6556483
The LOLB never reacts to the pass - http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2417504&pbp_id=6378183
The CB over the BTE never reacts to the pass - http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2417505&pbp_id=6685936
The CB over the TE never reacts to the pass - http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2456155&pbp_id=1610436
This is an interesting example because the slow speed of the possession BTE shows exactly what is happening. The CB over him moves downfield, stops, moves downfield, stops, and then only comes up to make the tackle - http://glb.warriorgeneral.com/game/replay.pl?game_id=2456107&pbp_id=1890381
We know from the first time Bort fixed this that it's not a vision issue, it's a problem with intersect calculation. For some reason defenders periodically calculate an intersect point farther downfield than the offensive player does even though the defenders almost always have much higher jumping. It's something you can fix by playing on aggressive coverage, although that has its own drawbacks. It's also not a game-breaking problem so I get that it's low priority and probably won't ever be addressed. My concern is that labeling things "not a bug" simply so you don't have to deal with them undermines the very point of the bug ticket system. If that's how things are going to be dealt with then it would be better to do away with the bug ticket system altogether. Alternatively, a GLB representative could simply note that there may not be time to investigate the matter fully and complete a fix, which would still be a better resolution than being told something broken is actually working as intended. And if you do intend to keep the bug ticket system as is, please give Bugs mods the ability to determine whether or not something is a bug. As much as I get frustrated with them, they clearly know more about this game than the people in support.
