and have a reasonable shot at getting the pieces I want? lvl 41, 51?

I'd say 41 or 51.

Lots of people swear by other numbers. Seems like when I wait until 61 or 71, though, the crap-percentage goes through the roof, negating the benefit of the extra pieces per roll. However, I have absolutely no proof of this, and I highly doubt Bort did anything intentional to the coding to make this happen. But the times when I've had that "magical" roll that gives me just what I'm looking for, they've always come when rolling at 41 or 51.

so until that point do you just save your BTs? or do you build the first 2 pieces and then roll for those ones once you hit 41?

Psh.... bad info in here. U can easily roll long before lvl 41 and have great success. Most of my dots find at least 1 keeper before this point. U need to hold off on any shoping untill all of your multi training and training enhances have been finished. After this it can't hurt to roll a few times and see how it goes. Since the store adds 1 extra piece to each roll per 10 player lvls its good to wait until hitting that next (20,30,40 etc) before rolling if your close to lvling over. But u certainly do not need to wait untill lvl 41 to roll. Roll a few times and if ur not lucky wait thats all

http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=4497631 - 5% piece
http://goallineblitz.com/game/player.pl?player_id=4505440 - 5% piece

Both dots are lvl 35 and only rolled maybe 3 times. U have better odds the longer u wait but its not mandatory.

i start rolling at 31. getting a 5% piece w/o attributes can still save you 50 bts. trying for that perfect combination of ability and attribute is just such a hit and miss. at l31, i spent 50 t shopping and buying and got 2 ability aeq worth 150, so i'll save 100 bt over building them. that'll pay for me building my last 2 from scratch

Just have a PLAN. Keep track of what you're spending in BT's when rolling for a piece of AEQ. Have a cutoff number where you STOP rolling and go ahead and build a piece. It's really easy. The MAX cost of any built AEQ piece is 425 BT's. (50 BT's for the +3 skill + 75 BT's for the 5% bonus of choice + 300 BT's to fully max out it's upgrades.) No matter what, even if you roll for a AEQ piece, it will STILL cost you 300 BT's to fully upgrade. So the initial purchase cost of any built AEQ piece is 125 Bt's. If you're rolling for a piece and you've rolled 10 times so far with no results, you've spent 30 BT's. That's nearly 1/4th of the total cost. Personally, I won't go beyond 20 rolls (60BT's... or nearly 1/2 the cost). At that point I just go ahead and build it.

One slight correction... the point where the store first adds an extra piece per roll is Level 31. It does it again every 10 levels after that: 41, 51, 61, 71. So, if you're rolling at 30, 40, 50, 60 and 70 as you suggested, you're actually screwing yourself over. If you're Level 30, wait until you hit 31, and THEN roll. Get that extra piece in there.

I shop the 1st piece @ 41. Then do not shop again until I have enough BTs to fully upgrade a 2nd piece. Same for 3rd, and again for 4th.

Level 71. you get the most chances to get what you need. Can save a lot of BT's this way.
