So, my DOT won the DMVP last season.

He's on the same team...doesn't he get sponsorship equipment for this or does that no longer happen? Thanks

The person who wins the MVP award isn't necessarily the same person who wins the MVP equipment. The Equipment is handed out on a lottery basis... everyone on the MVP board has a chance to win it, though the higher you are on the board, the better your chances of winning.

They started doing it that way a LONG time ago so that people couldn't just do stupid shit to pad their stats and run away with the Eq.

yep, my returner won a close race last season, yet the neither of the top 2 got the eq. if bort would just admit that his mvp formula is fubar, and only give the mvp to someone on a playoff team, the actual mvp could be given the eq. instead he leads too many people game the mvp system so he comes up with this fucked up system

Well, it's given out in a sort of lottery but only to the top 5 MVP candidates. Reason? If it was always given out to the MVP winner, then we'd have nothing but stat padders and primadonnas gutting teams and stuff just to get the gear. So the system still rewards good dot builders (and some stat padders too) but tries to keep it fairly legit. I've won MVP gear as the MVP winner, the runner up, and as a top 5 finisher. So it's WAI an doubtful it changes unless someone comes up with a non-gamable formula to change it.

most people that game the mvp are on terrible teams. remove the team contribution aspect and position comparison and only give it to playoff players, and it would be a lot harder to game. i have never understood bort's resistance to fixing the mvp formula. a couple of seasons ago, we had the mvp rankings change when the 3rd place guy left the league during the playoffs. it caused the top 2 to swap places. nothing that happens after day 32 should affect the mvp rankings, and the fact that a player left the league did just shows how screwed up the formula is.

to be honest, the reason i wont even try glb2 is because there are so many things still broken in glb that i think playing glb2 is rewarding crappy glb decisions.

To be fair, no matter what Bort does to the MVP formula, people will complain about it. So it's hard for me to blame Bort for throwing up his hands and saying, "It's close enough. I'm leaving it alone so I don't accidentally break it."
