-100 is closer and +100 is farther back

You can access all possible settings on any player through the quick tactics editor on your homepage. Every dot has all player tactics options, it is only viewable on individual player tactics page if the dot is assigned to a relevant depth chart position. Quick Tactics shows 'em all, all the time.

This... or better said, the more into the negative numbers, the tighter the DB should cover whomever he is defending. The more positive the number, the more of a cushion he should give whomever he is covering.

Some peeps (like me) like to cover tight when young (early in your dots' career) and give more cushion later... but never into the positive side of the slider. Reason? If you build your CB correctly, he should be able to close up the smallish gap you give (later) and make INT's or deflects. But... you can lure QB's into "thinking" the receiver is open by giving a little gap. Took me many seasons to learn that trick.

Since they throw into my -100 coverage times two anyway, I ain't even gonna try that.

That's not your defense's problem (really)... it's how the settings of the QB (along with the build of the QB) playing against you are. A QB with low vision will often throw into multiple coverages... ect, ect.
