How can a player be ranked #1 at their position but #2 in the MVP, while another is ranked #2 at the same position but #1 in the MVP?

MVP is also based on that players relative value to their team or something like that.
So the best player on a really good team can sometimes be ranked lower than a really good player on a bad team...
At least I think that's how it was explained to me.

#1 at their position = most productive.
#1 in MVP = most productive at that position as a percentage of their team's performance (i.e. "best dot on a bad team").
Neither the MVP nor HOF function properly.

My son had a FB on our team once, only FB and often was top in MVP running despite not being that productive, but since he was the only FB, he got the stats and was very valuable to the team.
