The reasons are obvious.
A case could be made for the same thing for WR slots also.

Removes too much of the strategy for depth chart placement. (blocking WR's, blitz CB's, stump CB's, power WR's, etc...)
But there won't be any more custom slots for GLB1 added as it is NGTH. Bort didn't even like the WR thing for GLB2 tbh and he removed it. He did however keep the defense customizable by formation though for CB's.
