It does work in the knocked loose roll, it's just a LOT less effective in the Knocked Loose roll than it is in the Not Fumble roll. Better off just investing in brace for impact, more carrying, catching, and strength.

carrying at 50, catching at 77, strength at 50, jumping at 48 (i assume these are the only #s that would matter in terms of being able to pull in a pass and holding on to it)
does the problem lie in below par attributes? with brace for impact be a possible solution? or would a SA like catch in stride be more appropriate?
Yes, for a WR that isn't focused on breaking tackles and doesn't have super specialized ridiculous 170+ speed you want to hit ~65+ carrying to assist in the knocked loose roll. Will help you fight off knocked loose on the non specialized dots that have decent tackling. There is of course no protection from HH DB's that without over-investing in carrying and strength.
